SCOPE
1.1
General
This general specification covers the minimum technical requirements for the design,
manufacture, and testing of individual skid-mounted pipeline scraper launcher and receiver
assemblies suitable for installation on oil and gas pipelines. For a specific launcher or
receiver, this Specification shall be used in conjunction with the project specifications and
data sheets for that launcher or receiver. Any exceptions to the requirements of this
specification shall be submitted in writing for resolution by Company.
1.2
Item Definition
The launcher and receiver assemblies provide facilities for launching or receiving scrapers
through connecting pipelines. The assembly may be mounted on a skid as a package
complete with necessary piping, valves, instrumentation, and supporting structure, or it may
be fabricated as part of the pipeline.

Connection Types
External connections 2 inch Nominal Pipe Size (NPS) and larger shall be
flanged. The flange shall be in accordance with the piping classification
required by specification VES-5090. Connections 1? inch NPS and
smaller shall be 6,000 pound, forged steel-threaded couplings.
3.2.3
Scraper Bars
If the branch diameter is 50 percent or more of the run diameter, tee fittings along
the scraper passage shall be equipped with scraper bars in the branch to prevent
the scraper from hanging up in the opening. Scraper bars shall be flush with the
inside diameter of the runs.
