10. A silver wire has a resistance of 2.0 ohms at 20oC and a resistance of 2.5 ohms at 100oC. Determine
the temp coefficient of resistance.
11. A galvanometer having a coil resistance of 100 gives full scale deflection when a current of 1
mA passes through it. Calculate the value of resistance required to convert it into an ammeter of
range 0-1 A.

12. An infinite wire carries a current of 4A in the South to North direction. Find the magnetic field at a
point 5m to the east of this wire. Give the direction of the field.
13. Two point charges 4 C and 2 C are separated by a distance of 1 m in air. Calculate at what
point on the line joining the two charges is the electric potential zero.
14. The electric potential as a function of distance X is shows in the diagram. Construct a graph of
the electric field strength E.

15. An electric dipole of length 4 cm when placed with its axis making an angle of 60 with a uniform
electric field experiences a torque of 4 3 Nm. Calculate the (i) magnitude of electric field (ii)

potential energy of dipole, if dipole has charges of 8 nC?


16. Using Kirchhoff rule determine the balance condition of wheatstone bridge.
17. derive an expression for the force per unit length between two infinitely long linear current
carrying parallel conductors. Hence, define one ampere.
18. Five 4 resistances, a 2V battery and an ammeter are connected as shown in the diagram. Find
the ammeter reading.

19. Two dielectric slabs of dielectric constants K1 and K 2 are filled in between two plates, each of area
A, of a parallel plate capacitor. Find net capacitance.

20. Derive an expression for the energy stored in a parallel plate capacitor.On charging a parallel
plate capacitor to a potential v, the spacing between the plates is halved, and a dielectric medium
of r 10 is introduced between the plates, without disconnecting the d.c. source. Explain, using

suitable expressions, how the i capacitance, ii electric field and iii energy density

Obtain an expression for the capacitance of a parallel plate (air) capacitor.

The given figure shows a network of five capacitors connected to a 100 V supply. Calculate the total
charge and energy stored in the network.
21. A wire of certain length is bent to form a circular coil of a single turn. If the same wire is bent into
coil of smaller radius so as to have two turns. What will be the ratio of Magnetic fields at center of
coil in each case for same value of current?

State Amperes law. Using it derive the magnetic field at the centre of a solenoid.
22. Find Electric field intensity due to a uniformly charged thin spherical shell at (i) a point out side
the shell (ii) On the surface of the shell (iii) At a point inside the shell
OR
Deduce an expression for the electric potential due to an electric dipole at any point on its axis.
Mention one contrasting feature of electric potential of a dipole at a point as compared to that due to
a single charge.
22.(a). What is a potentiometer. Explain its principle of working. Using a suitable circuit diagram,
explain how it can be
used to find the internal resistance of a cell. Derive the necessary formula.
(b). A 10 m long wire AB of uniform area of X- section and 20 resistance is used as
potentiometer wire. This wire is connected in series with a battery of 5 V and a resistor of 480 . An
unknown e.m.f is balanced at 600 cm of the wire as shown in the adjoining figure. Calculate
i.
the potential gradient for the wire
ii.
the value of unknown e.m.f. E.
