To overcome this situation a single phase prevention technique is incorporated in main incoming ACB tripping mechanism by use of internal resources. Lucknow . If all the three phase are present. the relevant relay opens control line. Y & B remains de energised and three parallel auxiliary contacts are open. power supply fails. it goes directly to trip coil. to 24 relays A & F through its auxiliary contacts. But at the same time other two relays give path to control signal and it extends from relay A to relay C. On the other hand. This relay C extends UPS AC supply to timer D to start. A Voltage monitoring relay VMR 3P is used to monitor incoming phase. any phase absents it forwards 24 V control supply obtained from the 24 V supply unit connected with 15 KVA UPS. A truth table shows all the possible conditions of operation. Y & B are closed. Ravindra Kishore. A bypassing arrangement of this circuit is made by simply removing the connector before trip coil and inserting another similar connector tagged nearly. After a delay of 5 sec. SEA.Brief Description: It is observed that many times single phasing occurred from the source of power supply i. Y & B which are connected in parallel. Whenever. e. The connections of relay A and F are such that both relays cannot extend signal simultaneously. the control line will be blocked as all the three relays R. But if any one phase remains absent. It is to be noted that once the ACB trips through the fault (single phasing or overload generated by ACB control circuit itself). AIR. relays R. timer closes its auxiliary contact 15 and 18 for 1 second and 24 V pulse reaches to trip coil of ACB and ACB trips immediately. Relay A forwards this control line to auxiliary contacts of 220 V relays R. 24 V DC is used for control line. from the substation or from the HT transformer especially during rainstorm. e . if all the three phase AC input omitted i. If any overload generated by control circuit of ACB. resetting of ACB is required by pressing “OFF ” button before making ACB “ON” again. Whenever such single phasing occurred some of switch gear contractors and/or three phase equipment suffer from damage due to unbalance voltage.
