Conclusion and Recommendation

The experiment was about the testing of concrete masonry units and was
conducted to determine the compressive strength and the density of CMU
specimens.

It was observed that the average maximum compressive load (P max) of each
CMU specimen has a relatively lower compressive strength of _____ in
comparison to the Philippine Trade Standard Specification compressive
strength rating of 350 psi or approximately 2.41 MPa.
In addition, it was observed that the average density of each CMU specimen
has a relatively comparable density of _____ in comparison to the Virginia
Allied Concrete Company Standard Specification of 105 pcf or approximately
1681.94 kg/m3.
Lastly, it was observed through visual inspection that the CMU specimens
displayed dampness and dark coloration on its surface.

The group concluded that the CMU specimens were not fit to be used for
heavy construction structures due to its low compressive strength even with a
standard density. The low compressive strength of the CMU specimens were due to
several factors.

First, the CMU specimens used in the experiment had insufficiencies in the
setting period thus caused surface dampness characterized by dark
coloration.
Lastly, several CMU classes corresponds to a distinct physical property or
rating. The CMU specimens used in the experiment was of low class thus
causing poor test performance characterized by early failure.
Therefore, prior to using CMU as a construction material,

Ensure that it undergoes proper treatment and handling

And review tests such as a compressive strength test done to it.
