Portland Christian Center’s Monthly Magazine

An All New Series Starting June 1st
Sundays at 10:00 am with Pastor Ray Noah
The action-packed adventures of David are some of the most well-loved in all the Bible. As we study the Old Testament books of I & II Samuel, we get a front row view of David’s life as it unfolds in living color. From humble shepherd boy to giant slayer, from faithful friend to fleeing fugitive, from cave to crown, from successful king to sinful adulterer, we learn from David what it means to grapple with the gritty realities of everyday life. Most importantly, through the ups and downs of life, this Bible hero will show the people of Portland Christian Center what it takes to develop a passionate heart that is fully devoted to God—the kind of heart that God can fully use. Part 1: A Heart God Notices Discovering greatness in unlikely places • I Samuel 16 Part 2: A Bold Heart Staring down the giants of life • I Samuel 17 Part 3: A Jealous Heart Case study of a downward spiral • I Samuel 18 Part 4: A Loyal Heart A friendship to die for • I Samuel 20 Part 5: A Hopeful Heart Encouragement for cave dwellers... I Samuel 22 Part 6: A Godly Heart Obeying God when it doesn’t make sense • I Samuel 24 Part 7: A Wise Heart Letting cool heads prevail • I Samuel 25 Part 8: A Passionate Heart When worship breaks containment • II Samuel 6 Part 9: A Kind Heart Turning impulses of kindness into strategies of love • II Samuel 9 Part 10: A Cold Heart Four moral crossroads • II Samuel 11 Part 11: A Cold Heart, Pt. 2 Four moral crossroads • II Samuel 11 Part 12: A Contrite Heart Recovering from a fatal attraction • II Samuel 12, Psalm 51 Part 13: A Restored Heart Finding grace in the aftermath of sin • II Samuel 12 Part 14: A Humble Heart Surviving self-inflicted disasters • II Samuel 16 Part 15: A Shepherd’s Heart The healing power of God’s psychiatry • Psalm 23

navigating the journey of life

Beth Moore’s “Stepping Up” 6:00 pm in the Chapel

This DVD-based series takes a look at the pilgrimage theme found in Psalms 120-134 and explores the major feasts of Israel. For the ancient Israelites, pilgrimage was a three times per year journey to the temple in Jerusalem; for New Testament believers all of life becomes a journey together toward the new Jerusalem. Led by Pastor Joel Slater.

For All Adults: Everybody Looks Normal Until You Get To Know Them Rooms 229-230
Normal? Who’s Normal? None of us are normal according to God’s definition, and the closer we get to each other, the plainer that is. Through this new series, get a thought-provoking look at God’s heart, at others, and at yourself. Even better, you’ll gain wisdom and tools for drawing closer to others in powerful, impactful ways. Discover how community pays tremendous dividends in happiness, health, support, and growth. It’s where all of us weird, unwieldy people encounter God’s love in tangible ways and discover the transforming power of being loved, accepted, and valued just the way we are.

For Adults 50+ Years Old: Relating to Your Unsaved Grown Children and Family - In the Chapel
The Bible asks, “What fellowship can light have with darkness?” (2 Corinthians 6:14). Since the obvious answer to this is none, how do parents maintain relationships with their adult, unsaved children or other unsaved family? Are you feeling helpless, hopeless, don’t know where to turn as you struggle to find a way to relate to your unsaved adult children and grandchildren? Join us in Front Runners for this new series. Led by Dave Kaiser and Jim Watson.

From the persecution of the early church to the tumultuous days of the Reformation and beyond, this series provides fascinating glimpses of the events and people responsible for the spread of Christianity. Learn the basics of Christian history in this fun and fascinating class. Led by Steve Lile.
