Animal Science and Biotechnology

Course Description:
The purpose of this class is to gain an understanding of animal science and biotechnology, its
importance and impact on Georgia, the United States, and the world. Emphasis will be placed on a few of the
following: scientific method, poultry, aquaculture, SAE, leadership, and the FFA. Students will gain knowledge
through lecture, group work, and hands-on activities.
Course Requirements:
You are required to follow all rules and procedures in class. You will be graded on your participation in
class and in group activities. If you miss class, see me to make up any work that you missed. You have one (1)
week to make up missed assignments.
Grading Scale:
Daily Assignments_____ 40%
Tests/Quizzes_________ 60%

Students are encouraged, not required to join the FFA. FFA uses agricultural education to create real-world success. More
than 7,000 FFA chapters are currently in existence with over 640,000 members. The programs are managed on a local,
state and national level. Each chapters Program of Activities is designed with the needs of the students in mind. Activities
vary greatly from school to school, but are based in a well-integrated curriculum. Chapter activities and FFA programs

concentrate on three areas of our mission: premier leadership, personal growth and career success. To find more
