Class Expectations
Classwork will be graded daily on an accountability sheet. If this sheet is lost you will not receive
classwork credit for missing days. You receive points for warm up, closure, learning target and the
work you do in class. These sheets will be collected every Thursday and a weekly classwork grade
will be entered into the gradebook.
Homework will be assigned for you to watch approximately 2-3 times per week. Most of the time
your homework will consist of a video. When this video is assigned, you are expected to watch the
video, take your notes and do the survey at the end in your notebook. If you do not have internet at
home, please let me know, I will get you a way to watch the videos. Your notes will be checked the
next day to be sure you recorded the major points needed from the video. Every so often you will be
asked to finish a class assignment for homework. The completion of this assignment can be graded
as a homework grade or as a classwork grade from the day it was assigned.
Cumulative Reviews will be assigned on Fridays. The following Friday you will be given 5 minutes
to fill out the multiple choice answers. If you are absent on a Friday it is YOUR responsibility it get
a cumulative review the next day you are back.
Quizzes will be given each week to check for the understanding of that weeks concepts and can
include old material. Quizzes will be multiple choice or short answer and REQUIRE work. Quizzes
can be retaken for full credit before the end of the unit. If you are absent on a Friday it is YOUR
responsibility to set up a time to take the quiz before the next weekly quiz.
Tests will be given at the end of each unit. Tests are multiple choice consisting of the big ideas of
the unit along with skills checks and an open response. Tests can only be retaken. You must do the
make-up work assigned before you are able to retake a test.
Late work will be worth 50% no matter how late and will not be accepted after a test. All work for
each unit must be turned in before taking the unit test.
Tardies If you find yourself late to my class, you must have a note from a teacher or staff member
excusing your tardiness. Please enter the room quietly and join the class without disruption. On
your THIRD unexcused tardy to my class you will earn a detention.
Absences If you are absent, bring an excused note the day you return and turn it into the office.
ALWAYS check the website the day you are absent, all work you missed and homework will be
posted there! In math it is important to remember that attendance is very essential. If you are absent
too much you will get behind and it can be very hard to catch up.
Organization is required in math to stay caught up and understand what it going on. If you are
having trouble with organization, come to me and we will talk about. If I see you coming
unprepared on a daily basis, we will schedule a time to meet and discuss what can be done.
Extra help is available before and after school with all Algebra 1 teachers. You can also utilize ESS
Monday through Thursday. Please let me know as soon as you feel like you may be lost and we can
set up a time for tutoring. Dont wait until its too late in the year to ask for help!

Cheating will not be tolerated. If a student is found cheating at any time the student will

automatically receive a zero on the paper. Second offenses are reported to the office. Depending on
the severity of the case, a first offense may be reported to the office as well.

Phones will not be allowed out in the classroom, unless otherwise stated. If I see your phone out at
an inappropriate time, it will be taken. Phones and/or other electronic devices (i.e. iPads, iPods,
tablets, e-readers, etc.) CANNOT be used as calculators! (The reason for thisyou cannot use
phones as calculators on any standardized tests, so you need to learn to use a calculator so you
know how to use it on all standardized testing.)
