all, whether you are an adult, teenager, or kid; the Library

Dothan Therapy Dogs

Join us every other month for fun with Dothan Therapy Dogs in the
Childrens Section of the Library during the Storytime programs at 10:30
and 4:30. They will be back on Thursday, September 1, 2016.
Therapy Dogs International is a volunteer organization dedicated
to regulating, testing and registration of therapy dogs and their
volunteer handlers for the purpose of visiting nursing homes, hospitals,
other institutions and wherever else therapy dogs are needed.

Notes from the Treehouse:

What a summer we had this year. Our brains have enjoyed some serious reading
exercises and the six sessions of the summer reading program were fantastic. The theme
Get Ready, Get Set!...READ! Worked beautifully. Thank you to our program volunteers
this year; Miss Holly who passed the torch of reading from the adults to the kids; Chelsie
Nowling informed us as to how the food we put into our bodies affects our minds; the
Therapy Dogs for showing us that everyone loves to be read to and practice is fun; Eddie
Leslie my personal gym trainer who got us moving and telling us why these movements
help our brains; Jessey Mixon who was our kid yoga volunteer but was unable to attend
because of illness, we missed you! The last blast was Big Bend Wildlife who brought a
variety of animals who have been saved or rescued from various situations. They brought
animals such as an albino blue jay and a huge owl doing one of his very first educational
performances. Special thanks to my teenage volunteers Rebecca Walden, Lauren
Montgomery, Allie Delaney, Kristina Speck, Kayla Johnson, Tykeriana Richardson, and
Deana McDaniel. Huge thank you to the Friends of the Library for our T-shirts. Thank
you to Michael Walden for the design; everyone loved it! We would like to thank Milky
Moos, Zaxbys and Sonic for being our sponsors. Congratulations to our Superstar
Reading MVPs; you worked had and surpassed your goals. Reaching your goals and
passing them is vital to your life.
School starts in August; Story Time kicks back in with new books, cool projects and
fun snacks. We also have books that are on the required reading list. Please ask at the
front desk for them. Adult Color Therapy is still quite active, and we have space for you in
the computer class. Come check out the new books and we look forward to seeing you
soon!
