FROM YOUR PASTOR
Mike Northcutt - ebc@eastmont.org

I love this story. Two little brothers were fighting so Dad
separated them. Dad asked, “What is this all about?” The
younger boy said “It all started when he hit me back.”
If you are listening to our presidential candidates, all
the problems are with the other person. Certainly not
themselves. It has been my experience that no one is
always a jerk and no one is always good. There are flaws
and sin in all of us. The grace of Jesus accepts us as we
are, but also empowers us to live as we should.
I have some important news from our Youth Minister
Search Committee. On September 17 and 18 they will
invite a prospective Youth Pastor to visit Eastmont and
recommend him to be our next Youth Pastor. He is
early thirties, married and blessed with two preschool
children. He graduated from New Orleans Seminary
and has seven years of ministry experience at his current
church. As a courtesy to him and his current church, we
will release his name on September 14 and in the next
Encourager. Please pray as we follow God’s will.
This year’s Country/Country Concert will be on the
fifteenth anniversary of 9/11. Mike Atcheson and friends
will sing some of their favorite Country songs as well
as songs about our great Country. Free meal – rides
and games for kids outside – great concert inside. It is
the kind of event you should invite guests to attend.
September 11, from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. (Concert at 6 p.m.)
I spoke to a group of discouraged pastors. Declining
numbers – bureaucratic church – hall monitor leaders
were zapping their strength. One pastor said “My church
expects me to be as deep as David Jeremiah, as eloquent
as Chuck Swindoll, as relevant as Rick Warren and to
smile like Joel Osteen.” I told him to be who God made
him. Our strength and success is from Christ. We live by
grace/righteousness not work/righteousness.
Some preachers like to tell what is wrong with the
church. I took a vacation day and asked God to show
me what is right with Eastmont. I was astounded! All
day long His Spirit reminded and revealed to me what a
treasure we have here. When I count my richest blessings
they all add up to three: Christ, Family and You.

Count your blessings, remember your dreams.
