Chapter One

Oliver and Linda

-

Hello! I’m Oliver! What’s your name?

-

Hello! I am Linda.

-

Hi Linda!

Linda is pink, green and purple.
Oliver is red, yellow, orange and blue.
They have got long colourful tails.
Linda and Oliver live in the sky.
They are kites.
They like travelling.

1

Chapter Two

Mr. Rain is crying
Oliver: Do you want to go to London?
Linda: Yes, why not? Let’s go!

Linda and Oliver started their long trip.
On their way, suddenly, it started raining.

Linda: Why is it raining?
Oliver: I don’t know. Let’s go and talk to
Mr. Rain!

They see Mr. Rain. He is crying.

Oliver: Why is the weather so bad?
Mr. Rain: I am very sad. I had a fight with Mr. Sun and I lost.
Linda: Don’t worry Mr. Rain! You are friends with Mr. Sun and friends don’t fight!
Mr. Rain: You’re right! I will talk to him.

Mr. Rain was happy again. It stopped raining and the two kites continued their trip.

2

Chapter Three

A visit to an Amusement Park
The kites are flying over London. They can
see Big Ben. It is very big. Suddenly, they
see many birds.

Linda: Be careful Oliver! Look at those
birds! They’re dangerous. They will eat our
tails!
Oliver: Let’s go quickly in a cafe to be safe!
Linda: Sure!

The kites are drinking tea and they’re having fun. There are many children
in the cafe too. A boy catches Linda’s tail. He wants to fly a kite - Linda.
Oliver is too scared and sad. He must save Linda. The boy is running fast
and Linda is crying and shouting. The young boy is going to an amusement
park with his family and Linda.

Oliver must go to the amusement park to find Linda. He takes the train
because he can’t drive. He finds a ticket and he gets onto the train. A girl
talks to Oliver:

Girl: Are you really a kite?
Oliver: Yes, I am!

3

Girl: Where are you going?
Oliver: I’m going to the amusement park to
save Linda.
Girl: Who is Linda?
Oliver: Linda is a kite. She’s my friend.
Girl: What happened?
Oliver: A boy took her.
Girl: I can help you. Here we are! Let’s go and
find her.
Oliver: Thank you very much…. ehm… what’s
your name?
Girl: My name is Susanna.
Oliver: Nice to meet you! I’m Oliver!
Girl: Look! I can see a kite! It’s orange and black.
Oliver: No, that’s not Linda.

Oliver and Susanna see an orange kite. The orange kite can
talk but he doesn’t know anything about Linda. Then, they
ask a balloon. The balloon says: “I don’t speak the kite’s
language.” Oliver feels sad and Susanna is tired. The night is
coming but Linda isn’t with them.

4

Chapter Four

Susanna and her friends
Susanna sees her brother and his friend. She tells
them what happened and they decide to make
two groups to find Linda. Susanna and Oliver go
to the “Wheel”. They see Linda from the top of
the wheel. Linda is on a tree. She can’t fly and
she can’t go anywhere. Susanna calls her brother
to catch Linda’s tail from the tree. The fun park
will close in 5 minutes.
Linda: Hey guys! Save me! Susanna, take my tail
and help me fly again.
Susanna: Ok! I’m trying!
Linda is free now and feels very happy. The
children run to the exit because the fun park
closes in one minute. When they are out of the
fun park they are very excited.
“We did it!” they all shouted!
They stay the night at Susanna’s home. They drink
hot chocolate and they watch TV. The next day,
the kites want to visit Buckingham Palace.
“Goodbye Susanna”, Oliver and Linda say.
Then they fly over the palace.
Linda: Wow! It’s very big and beautiful!
Oliver: The garden is very big too! Let’s go
down and get inside.
The weather is windy again and they fall
onto the Queen’s head.

5

Chapter Five

The angry Queen
Queen: I’ve just been to the
hairdresser’s! You destroyed my hair!
Oliver: We’re sorry!
Queen: I don’t care. You will go to
prison.
Linda: Please, don’t do that!

The guards take the kites to prison.
The kites feel sad and angry. They
want to escape.

Linda: How can we escape?
Oliver: We should find an open
window.
Linda: I can see a window but it’s too
high!
Oliver: Come on! We’re kites! We can fly!
The kites fly to the window and they try to get out of
this prison. Then, they think it’s a good idea to go to
another place. They want to go to Rio de Janeiro in
Brazil because they want to play football and see the
Olympic Games.
Linda: What can we see in Rio?
Oliver: We can visit the statue of Jesus and go to the
Amazon river.
Linda: OK! Let’s go!

6

Chapter Six

Brazil
The kites are flying over Rio de Janeiro. They can see
the Olympic Stadium and the athletes who are
practising for the Olympic Games.
Linda: I can smell something like a hot dog!
Oliver: I’m hungry. Let’s buy two hot dogs.

When they eat, they fly to the Amazon rainforest. They
see a bird there and they think it wants to eat them.
But the bird talks to them:
Bird: Don’t worry! I’m a good bird. I’m not a kite-eater.
I’m vegetarian.
Linda: What’s your name?
Bird: My name is Speedbird.
Oliver: I’m Oliver and this is Linda. Nice to meet you.
Bird: Do you want to take a tour of the rainforest?

Speedbird goes over Linda and Oliver and grabs them. They see all the places of the
rainforest: the trees, the rivers and many animals. Speedbird explains what they see. This
experience is very interesting.

Suddenly, Speedbird drops the kites! They feel very scared because they’re too high! A
hunter sees them and he shoots in the air. Speedbird falls down but he’s only injured. The
kites are very worried. They’re angry and start shouting at the hunter.

When they go closer, they see something strange: the hunter hasn’t got a gun! He’s a
wizard! He’s laughing!

7

Chapter Seven

A surprise in the forest
Oliver: Why are you laughing? You have just hurt
our friend.
Wizard: I have magical powers and I can do
whatever I want. I am the king of the rainforest.
I have been living here for over 100 years.
Linda: And why are you so mean?
Wizard: All the animals laugh at me because I
am old, short and I have a very big nose.
Oliver: You shouldn’t be so mean to them. When
you treat someone badly, it all comes back to
you.
Wizard: But they started it.
Linda: Yes but they are very young. You are smart and wise. We will help you be friends
again.
Wizard: Thank you! And I will make one wish come true.
Linda and Oliver gathered all the rainforest animals. They sat all together and they decided
they would be friends forever. After that, the wizard didn’t forget his promise.
Wizard: OK, thank you for all that you’ve done for me. What’s your wish?
Oliver: We don’t want anything precious. We
just want a pink fluffy and flying Unicorn for
our friend Speedbird who was hurt by your
magic wand.
The wizard said some magic words and turned
a horse into a unicorn.
Wizard: I hope you have a safe trip now.
Enjoy your new friend.

8

Chapter Eight

A squid on the rocks
The four friends fly back. The two kites continue their
journey alone. They say goodbye to Speedbird and his
Unicorn and fly away.
They travel across the Atlantic Ocean and arrive in
Athens, Greece. They see the ancient ruins of the
Parthenon on the Acropolis and taste the traditional food,
souvlaki.
They continue their trip and get to a sandy beach. It is
very nice and there are a lot of people swimming in the sea.
Suddenly, they see something on the rocks. What is it?
They get closer and they see a small, red squid. They look at him and the squid says:
Squid: Help me! I can’t walk. I can’t fly. I can’t move. And I have to get into the water
quickly.
Linda: We will help you!
Oliver and Linda try to save him with their
tails. But they can’t hold the squid. So the
squid says: Go and find the lifeguard. It’s a
man with a red swimming costume who sits on
a chair in a brown, red and white house.
The two kites find the lifeguard and ask for
help.
Oliver: I’m sorry, but can you help us?
Lifeguard: Yes, I can. What’s the problem? What’s happening?
Linda: A squid is on the rocks and has to get into the water. We tried to help but we
couldn’t.
Lifeguard: OK, let’s go. Show me where the squid is.
They fly to the rocks and the lifeguard follows them. He takes the squid into his hands and
puts it into the water. After that, he leaves.
Squid: Thank you Oliver and Linda. I owe you one!
9

Chapter Nine

Greek sights
Oliver and Linda travel to the ancient theatre
Epidavros and watch a play based on a tragedy
by Evripidis. When the play finished they went
to sleep and they dreamed what happened in
ancient Greece.
They were fighting in Thermopyles with Leonidas
and the 300 soldiers. When the fight in
Thermopyles ended they travelled to another
war in Salamina by ship. That moment the
enemies destroyed their ship and the ship sank.
The two kites were trapped in the ship. They
could have drowned, if the squid hadn’t helped them. And now they were even.
Also, they dreamed about the first Olympic Games that took place in Athens. They took
part in a Marathon and ran on the track. They came in first place and wore a laurel wreath.
When they got out of dreaming they felt very happy that they had seen all these things.
The next day, they were interested in going to a museum. They went to an Archaeological
Museum. They saw a lot of ancient things that they had dreamed about, like sculptures,
arms, bones, treasures, loot and coins.
They had a great time in Greece and now they will travel to another country for more
adventures.

This is Helen.
She has got green eyes and

15

Chapter One

What’s that?
One day a sixteen-year-old boy goes to school.
“Why are you running?” the boy asks.
“Because we have a test today.” his sister says.
“Did you study?” Helen asks.
“No, I didn’t it was boring. I talked on my phone and I played
with my tablet.”
‘’Why did you do that? The test is hard!”
‘’I don’t like school, OK?’’

“Oh what’s that?”Alex asks.
“I think it’s a wallet!” Let’s take it to the police!’’ Helen says.
‘’Wait, let’s open it first and see what is inside. It has 600 euros in here!’’

16

Chapter Two

A disagreement
“No, Alex! We go to the police,
now!”
“Why? It has 600 euros. Let’s take
it and buy something for us.”
“But it’s not yours. Let’s take it to
school and when school finishes we
will go to the police officer. Hurry
now. Let’s go.”

The two children go to their
classroom and one child asks them.
“What is this?” Harry asks.
“It’s a wallet. We found it in the
street and after school we will go
the police station,” Helen says.
Alex: “Helen wants to go to the
police. But I’m not sure. I want to take it and buy something; for example, a mobile
phone or a TV”.
“I agree with Helen,” says Harry. “It’s right to go to the police.”
The teacher comes into the classroom because they have a lesson. “Be quiet. The lesson
is starting now,” the teacher says.

17

Chapter Three

Should parents know?

A few hours later the children go home. They are in their bedroom.
“OK, we need to tell our parents that we found a wallet and then go to the police
station.’’ Helen says.
“But you can buy many things for yourself too, like the expensive clothes you wanted.
Maybe we can hide it for a few days. Let’s put it in the wardrobe under the shoe
boxes.’’
Suddenly they hear their mum’s voice. “Come and eat children!’’
“One minute, mum, please!’’
The family is in the kitchen.
“How was school today?’’ mum asks.
“Erm..it was boring!’’ Alex says.

18

“Nothing interesting happened?’’
“No, nothing dad….’’
“|No, it was VERY interesting!’’ Helen suddenly says.
“Helen, ask mum about the clothes you wanted,’’ her brother tells her.
“What clothes?’’Mum asks. ‘’Helen you know that they are very expensive.’’

Later…
Alex is in his bed. He’s very tired. He has a card in his hand and he looks at it.
“John Harley,’’ he reads.

19

Chapter Four

The I.D. Card
The next day the children go to school. It’s break time. Alex and
Harry are talking.
“I found an ID card but I don’t want to tell my sister
because she will go to the police station.”
“But you have to go to the police, Alex!”
“No, I don’t want to go there.”
“What’s the person’s name?”
“Why are you asking, Harry?”
“Because I want to go to the police.”
“If you do that, we won’t be friends
anymore!”

At that time Helen was walking near them and she heard them
talking loudly. She was watching her brother the whole day. She
knew that something was wrong.
After school Alex goes to an electronics shop, his sister follows
him. He wants to buy something that costs a lot of money. He is
in the video games section. He looks at the FIFA 16 and GTA5
games.

Suddenly, he hears two people talking:
“I’m very sad because I lost my wallet. Maybe I lost it here. I had my ID card inside.”
20

“What’s your name sir?” the shop worker asks.
“John Harley”.
“We didn’t find anything but I can check the CCTV and we will
call you if we find any information.”
“Do you have cameras outside the shop too?”
“Yes we do,” the worker answered.
“Can you check those too, please?”
“Yes, we will.”
“Thank you.”

Alex heard all this and he felt scared. He left running. Helen who was waiting for her
brother outside, sees him.

21

Chapter Five

The room with the cameras
Alex was at home but he couldn’t stop thinking about what had happened at the shop.
The man that had lost his wallet was there asking about it. He was very nervous and so
he decided to stop by Harry’s house. He had to talk to him about it.
Later that night Alex was outside his friend’s house ringing the doorbell.
“What are you doing here, Alex? Why aren’t you at home, it’s late!” Harry told him.
“Can we talk?”
“Ok, come in.”
Alex narrated what had happened in the electronics’ shop to his friend.
“Wait, so you mean that you saw my dad talking to the man that lost his wallet?”
“Yes, exactly!”
“And so the place where you found that wallet that morning was outside that shop?
Yes, that’s what I’m telling you, Harry! You need to help me.” Alex said.
“Why are you looking at me like that? What exactly do you have in mind?”
It was after midnight. The two boys were inside the shop.
“My dad will kill me if he learns I took his keys.” Harry said in a low voice.
“We will put them back before he knows,” his friend whispered.
“But still, I can’t believe you talked me into that!”
“Your dad works here, we just borrowed his keys for a little while.”
“This is so wrong!”
“Harry, your dad is going to check the cameras tomorrow and he’s going to see me
picking up that wallet, I really don’t want that to happen.”
Next, the two boys go into the surveillance room with all the cameras inside. They take
the video tape and return to Harry’s home.
22

They slowly get into Harry’s bedroom. At that moment Harry’s mum was in the kitchen
and sees the two boys coming home late.
The next morning, Harry’s parents are talking and Harry’s mother tells her husband
what she had seen the previous night.
“Jim, the children didn’t tell us that they would go out last night, I think you should
talk to them about it.”
Jim knocks on his son’s bedroom door.
“Harry your mother told me that you and Alex went out late last night, you didn’t get
permission for this,” he says in a strong tone.
“Yes, I’m sorry dad, we…we were at Nick’s house playing video games and we lost track
of time.”
“Alex’s parents called me
yesterday afternoon and
I told them their son
was going to sleep here,
you should have told me
if you were going to
leave the house again!”
“I see. I’m really sorry,
dad.”
In the meantime, Alex’s
sister, Helen, is in her
house. Alex is still not
home. All this feels really weird to her and so she decides to go and check if the wallet
is in the wardrobe where she and her brother had hidden it.
After searching for a few moments she finds it, but to her surprise there is no money
inside. Instead she finds something else.
“I can’t believe this!”, she thinks to herself. “My brother never told me there was an ID
card inside!”

23

Chapter Six

A big surprise
Helen was really surprised to realize that the wallet belonged to her favourite singer.
He was the famous singer “John Harley”.
After the shock, she checks all the documents in the wallet and she finds the owner’s
address. Now she’s thinking: ”Should I go to Harley’s house to return the wallet and tell
him the truth, or should I go to the police? But what about the money? If I tell the
truth, my brother will get in trouble.”
So Helen decides to go to John Harley’s house , even without the money, so as to have
the opportunity to meet him.

24

Chapter Seven

The truth
While she was walking towards John’s house, she found John standing at a bus stop. He
was looking a little angry. Helen went next to him and asked him why he was looking
like that. He looked at Helen and noticed his wallet. He took it from her hands and
hugged her. He explained to her that this wallet had been the last gift from his dad,
before he died, and was the only thing in memory of him. Helen was very glad she
helped him. John wanted to thank her, so he gave a concert only for her.
Alex got angry with his sister and he ran to find her and take the wallet. But his sister
had already gone to John’s house. Alex didn’t know what to do and called Harry. Harry
told Alex that his sister did the right thing because the wallet wasn’t his. Alex realised
his mistake, but he had spent all the money on video games. He felt guilty and returned
the video games to the store. Later, he went to John’s house. When John opened the
door, he saw Alex with his money and felt happy. He thanked Alex.
Alex returned home and talked to his sister:
Alex: “It was a good thing that you gave the wallet back to John but you should have
told me!”
Helen: “Sorry Alex! I knew you would understand. I’m glad you did. I took the wallet
because it was my favourite singer’s wallet!”
The siblings told their parents what they had done. Their parents shouted at them and
told them not to do it again. Then they made them wash the car. The children felt
embarrassed and sad about the things they had done. But they had to wash the car or
they would get into a bigger trouble!
