The Normal Christian Life “One Body”

The Normal Christian Life “One Body”
• The concept of the body of Christ is very complicated, it is only used in the language of the New Testament. The term is not used in the Old Testament. • Even more confusing is the nature of that body in that it consist of a multitude of people. • The best example that I can think of is the explanation given by Paul in that we are all “One Loaf”……..

“One Body”
• The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. 1Corinthians 12.12 • Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. Romans 12.4,5

“One Body”
• We all too often mistake anointing, spiritual, ministry and motivational gifts as different entities. They are of the same body, perhaps more visibility but no more honor than what the scripture calls the uncomely parts. • The goal of the normal Christian life is the same for all those placed into this body. Let’s look at what we have been spending the last few months learning.

One Body “The Reigning Tyrants”
• • • • Freedom from sin’s penalty- death (Blood) Freedom from sin’s tyranny- bondage (Blood) Freedom from sin’s strength- the law (Cross) Freedom from sin’s presence- the flesh (Cross, and ultimately by the redemption of the body at the second coming, releasing us from sin’s presence)

One Body
• The author puts it like this, using the book of Romans • 5- Our sins are forgiven • 6- We are dead with Christ • 7- By nature we are utterly helpless • 8- Consequently we depend on the indwelling of the Holy Spirit

One Body The Process
• The blood of Christ deals with sin and guilt • The cross of Christ deals with sin, flesh and self • The life of Christ now available to indwell, recreate and empower man • The working of death in the natural man that the indwelling life of Christ can be progressively manifested

One Body
• • • • • These are based on two things: Revelation --------- Faith Experience We must embrace the future outcome of the church which is the body if we are going to see through God’s eyes. • Position in Christ (finished work) • Progress in Christ ( where are you at) • Perfect in Christ (glorious church or body)

One Body Destiny and Purpose Defined
• All of these are part of our journey, but why take the journey if we never look to the end result. Every man perfect in Christ Jesus.. • These steps are for the purpose of a body of believers in Christ, the family of God, and the temple of the Holy Spirit to inundate the world with God’s original purpose in Adam.

One Body 1st Adam Progeny vs 2nd Adam Progeny

is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 46Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. 47The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven. 48As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. 49And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. 1 Corinthians 15

One Body The Ultimate Purpose
• 4According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: • 24Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. • 25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. • 31For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. • 32This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

One Body
• 7Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. • Remember that the church or the body is feminine in gender according to the Bible. • Sound familiar? God’s ultimate purpose for Adam interrupted by sin, redemption was needed but ultimate plan in Jesus established before the foundation of the world.

One Body
• the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; • 22And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. • 23And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. • 24Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

One Body Covenant
• Before the fall ever occurred in Genesis 3, God in the first Adam creating an identity not from a separate creation but as an extenuation of His existing creation. • Christ slept, but not just for redemption, but for a body that would be the expression of who He is. The church birthed from this sleep, not with her own identity but as a extenuation of who He is.

One Body
• • • • • Harmony Service Expression Intimacy We must move forward in these phases of preparation. I don’t know if it is possible for us to delay what God is doing but I know that we are not there yet.

• In this intimacy we come to the final stage of what we’re doing and why we are here. In the expression and for the intimacy. The command remains the same. • Making something of this world which we’re in • Dominion • Fruitful and Multiply
