Protester Being Held on Nebraska Felony Warrant
Mandan, N.D. – A 42 year old South Dakota woman arrested September 13 th,
2016 in Morton County is being held on Nebraska charges. Olowan Martinez
has been charged with criminal trespass for being on private property of a
Dakota Access Pipeline worksite.
There is an outstanding warrant for Martinez in Nebraska where she is
charged with Terroristic Threats, a class 4 felony; theft, a class 1
misdemeanor; criminal mischief, a class 2 misdemeanor; and criminal
mischief, a class 1 misdemeanor. According to the warrant, the charges
stem from a May 2013 incident in Sheridan County, Nebraska.
Martinez waived her extradition on September 14 th. Nebraska authorities
have 10 days to take custody of Martinez.
Morton County authorities have arrested and charged 69 individuals for
illegal protest activities. Martinez is the only person still in custody.
