TO ALL STUDENTS WHO WISH TO APPLY FOR NATIONAL STUDENT FINANCIAL AID SCHEME
(NSFAS) FUNDING IN 2016
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

All students that want to apply for financial aid need to read the rules and conditions for the
2016 application carefully before accepting the conditions online. There will be a paragraph
stating that your parents/guardian need to agree to verify employment verifications. If you
agree meaning you have consulted with your parent to apply for financial aid and they also
agree to continue to verify employment status!!
 All students need to go to the website to create and complete the compulsory information to
enable you to create a 2016 application record online.
 Only online applications will be accepted!
 Only South African citizens are eligible.
 Therefore, please ensure that you 1) submit complete and correct applications and 2) submit
your applications on time (see below)! If you submit incomplete or late applications you will
be excluded and disadvantage yourself. Funding is limited and the number of students
supported will depend on the availability of funds. Ranking will be done by NSFAS on
financial need and academic performance.
 New first-year applicants who indicated their need for financial aid and who are admitted to
the University please logon to the Financial Aid Website and upload all required documents
before 15 November 2015. Refer to the online manual for assistance.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR THE 2016 APPLICATIONS
 Proof of income, not older than three months, of parent(s) or guardian (salary slip,
pension slip, etc.). NSFAS will verify income sources through the Receiver of
Revenue (SARS).
 Certified ID copies or birth certificates of all dependent family members.
 Death certificate(s) if parent(s) is/are deceased.
 If any family members are studying at other institutions, proof of their registration
has to be submitted.
 Ensure to save all certified copies on your memory stick which must not exceed
520kb and must be in a pdf format to enable you to upload.
 Go to www.tut.ac.za/students/financial for more information.
