    InreadingAntigoneIfoundthetitlecharactertobedeaftoreason,whilehersister,Ismeneis
    muchtooeasilyswayedbyit.Ofcoursethisdependsononesideaofreasonandright/wrong.Iam
    supposingthatreasonistherespectforagreaterwhole,nomatterthemoralimplications.Though
    Antigonesactionsaresteadfastinourbasicunderstandingofmorality,sheisdevoidofreason.Thatis,
    theunderstandingofwhensacrificesmustbemadetoservicesociety.Herbrothersburialorlack
    thereofisjustintheeyesofthestate.Itcouldalsobesaidthatwhenhetookactionagainstthestate,
    hebecametiedtoitthereforeperhapslosinghisrightasahumanbeingwithinit.ThoughAntigoneis
    righttostandupforfamily,sheisnotseeingthebiggerpictureorreasoningwithherself.Thisisnotto
    saythatsheisrightorwronginwhatsheisdoing,simplythatsheisdevoidofreason.
    Ismenehoweveristhestarkoppositeofhersister.Shecompliestothestateswisheswithblind
    fear.Reason,beingthefearofpoliticalupsetortheinterestofsocietyasawhole,playstoomuchinto
    Ismeneschoices.SheisinspirednotbyfierceloyaltylikeAntigone,orgroundedresponsibilitylike
    Creon(atleastatthebeginning).Ismenesimplyplaysbytherules,Iviewedherasafollowerand
    condemnedherforthat,becausewithoutdifficultchoicesoractionsshecannotbetrulyhumanormoral.
    Itisworsetostandfornothing.Ismeneistooeasilyswayedbythecomfortofreason.WhileAntigones
    deafnesstoreasonisnotwrong,IdobelievethatIsmenesinfluencebyreasoniswrong.
    Afterexploringthis,IfindthatIsmeneshouldbecondemnedwhileAntigonerules.Thoughthe
    prospectofAntigonerulingmysocietydoesfrightenmesubstantially,itisbetterthanthedull,soulless
    alternativeofIsmeneleading.AlongwiththeangerandpainthatAntigonesrulewouldnodoubtbring,
    societywouldbehumanandstrivingtowardssomething.AndalthoughIsmenehasdonenothing
    wrongshelacksthespinetospeakforherselfanddecidewhenreasonisrightorwrong.Forthese
    reasonsIfindAntigone,beingdeaftoreasonwouldrule,andIsmene,beingtooeasilyswayedby
    reasonwoulddie.
