Advanced Voltage Protection Elements & Metering (SR339 & SR350)

The SR339 and SR350 relays have been enhanced to include voltage protection and metering elements.
With the addition of voltage protection and metering the SR339 and SR350 relays offer advanced
protection and metering functionality for motor and feeder applications.
The following protection elements have been added:
Undervoltage Protection:
Phase (27P) & Auxiliary (27x)
Overvoltage Protection:
Phase (59P), Auxiliary (59x),
Neutral (59N), Negative Sequence (59_2)
Directional Protection:
Neutral (67N)
Ground (67G)
Frequency Protection:
Under (81U)
Over (81O)

The following metering elements have been added:

Voltage Metering:
Phase, Line & Neutral Voltages
Negative Sequence, Zero Sequence, Auxiliary Voltage
Frequency
Power Metering:
Three Phase Real, Reactive, Apparent Power
Power Factor
Energy Metering:
Positive and Negative Watt-hour
Positive and Negative VAR-hour
N

Advanced Communications with support for IEC 61850 Logical Nodes

IEC61850 server has been added in 1.41 release based in ICD/CID file stored in a non-volatile memory (File
System ). The CID file shall be interpreted (parsed by SCL parser) by firmware at device startup and the
information contained in the CID file shall be used in order to create the IEDs IEC61850 data model as well as
configuration of Goose and Report Control Blocks. The device supports configurable Data Sets used for
Reporting and GOOSE Transmission. The protection and control function has been modelized into the typical
logical nodes PTOC, PIOC, MMXU, XCBR, etc, allowing the user to use it in the configurable datasets.

E

Enhanced Logic Elements

The Logic functionality in firmware version 1.41 has been enhanced to include the following:
Logic Elements
16 Logic Elements from 8
Any state of a programmed contact, virtual or remote input
Output operand - protection or control elements
Triggering / Blocking Inputs
Three triggering inputs using AND / OR gates
Three blocking inputs using AND / OR gates
Timers
Pickup and Dropout Timers

Advanced Motor Learned Data (SR339)

The 339 Motor Learned Data has been enhanced to capture up to 250 sets of motor starting values, averaged
over up to five motor starts. These values are available through 339 Setup Actual Values as well as the
included 339 Setup Motor Start/Stop Report. The motor learned data is graphically represented through the
enhanced Motor Health Report. With the inclusion of the Learned data the information provided with assist
with troubleshooting faults that occur during starting, as well as planning preventative maintenance.
The following is the learned data captured and stored and can also be printed and filed.

Learned Acceleration Time

Learned Starting Current

Learned Starting Capacity

Last Acceleration Time

Last Start Current

Last Start Thermal Capacity Used

Learned Average Motor Load

Learned Run Time After Start

RTD Maximum Temperature

Advanced Motor Health Report (SR339)

The Motor Health Report included with the 339 Setup provides a detailed history of the operation and
performance of the associated motor. By providing critical information as listed in the Enhanced Motor
Learned Data and the Motor Start Data Logger, the characteristics of the motor are learned and monitored
and provide the key information required for troubleshooting persistent problems and facilitate preventative
maintenance. Key motor performance parameters are obtained from the 339 relay, including trip causes,
motor learned data parameters and motor start data logs and presented in a PDF report.

Enhanced Configurable Ambient Temperature Monitor

The ambient temperature monitor has been enhanced in firmware version 1.41 which allows users the ability
to configure the temperature setting based on individual requirements.
With these enhancements, the temperature ranges, high and low, can be programmed by the user and initiate
action based on installation and application environments. A programmable time delay also allows users the
ability to alarm on conditions where the temperature exceeds the preset threshold by a preset time. The
alarm initiation can then be tied to an output relay or into the logic of the relay.

Support for 12 RTDs via the RMIO unit

The 339 has been enhanced to support 12 RTDs inputs via the RMIO unit.
The Remote I/O Module provides RTD temperature metering capabilities for the Multilin SR 339 Motor
Protection System. The remote RTD Module provides additional protection to motor applications by monitoring
the temperature of key components in the equipment.
All RTDs settings are completely configurable via the SR 339 Motor Protection System and via GE Multilins
EnerVista Software programs.

Neutral and Ground Directional Protection (67N & 67G)

The protection elements in the SR3 platform have been enhanced to include Ground and Neutral directional
elements, (67N & 67G).
The Ground and Neutral Directional elements are used to discriminate whether a fault occurs in a forward or
in a reverse direction, and they can be used either individually or as a part of the Ground and Neutral Time, or
Instantaneous over-current elements.

N

Simplified GOOSE Configuration (SGC)

The SR3 Series firmware has been enhanced to include the Simplified GOOSE Configurator (SGC), which
provides users the ability to quickly and easily configure IEC61850 GOOSE communications in the SR3 Series of
Relays. The SR3 family of relays supports the IEC61850 GOOSE messaging service, which allows the SR3 relays
to exchange digital and analog information with other relays supporting the same service.
The SGC is only supported in SR3 Series firmware version 1.40 and higher, with 2E or 3E options in the order
code.
