UNIT-IV
SOURCE AND ERROR CONTROL CODING
1. A discrete memoryless source has symbols x1,x2,x3,x4,x5 with probabilities 0.4,0.2,0.1,0.2 and 0.1
respectively.Construct a Shannon fano code and calculate its efficiency.
2. obtain the codeword for the cyclic encoder for the message signal(10011), using the transform
domain approach..The impulse response of the input adder output path is (1,1,1) and the input
bottom adder output path is (1,0,1).
3. A source has 6 symbols x1,x2,x3,x4,x5,x6 with probabilities 0.25,0.30,0.20,0.12,0.08 and 0.05
respectively. Construct a Huffman code and calculate its efficiency also calculate redundancy of
the code.
4. The parity check matrix of a particular(7,4) linear block code is given by
