Go Paperless
Paper towels are expensive and wasteful. Buy reusable cloths to use for household cleaning, and kitchen clean up. Color code them so you keep them confined to one area of the home.

Saving the environment doesn’t have to be difficult. As a matter of fact, going green can save you money.
Th ere is no bet t e r t i m e than t o d ay !
veryone wants to go green. And with all of the buzz about saving the Earth while saving money, I wanted to take this month’s newsletter to give you some environmental and money saving tips that I use in my own home.

Green Cleaning
Purchase environmentally friendly cleaning products. You buy organic food for your kids, but you use just any cleaning products on your counters.

E

Sit down with your family and discuss your environmental goals. Why do you want to be greener? Do you want to decrease your carbon footprint? How much money do you want to save every year? Next take these goals and create some action steps. What items do you need to buy to make your home greener?

The biggest thing you can do to make an impact in your carbon footprint to the examine your output. What are you throwing away? Can any of it be recycled? The key to recycling is to make it easy. Have a bin on every floor, more often if you have a larger home. Charge your kids with gathering all of it once a week and putting it out in time for pick up. Call your town office for a copy of the recycling regulations. Are you throwing away items that someone else could use? Use Freecycle or Craig’s List to give items away for free or to sell unwanted items. Also, many charities pick up. Remember reusing is the best way to recycle!

Shed Some Light
Everyone knows the benefits of switching to fluorescent light bulbs. But did you know that many warehouse stores sell them in bulk at a significant discount?

Both Sides
Use both sides of your computer printing paper. Keep a small bin by the printer with paper printed on one side that can be reused.
