1. GENERAL
This document has been prepared on the basis of the Request for Quotation received from SANO epc,
for the supply of an Electrical Package and Monitoring System for a 32 MW PV Plant in Romania and the available
preliminary design for it.

The Prices and Terms of delivery will be elaborated at a later stage when the Technical solution is clearly outlined

1.1. Description of the Solution


This document covers the description of the Electrical Package and Monitoring System for a 32.0 MW PV Plant in
Romanua. .

Power Plant Summary:


According to the available concept design the PV Plant is divided in 4 equal plots with tha same installed PV
Power.and equal AC output power of 8.0 MVA.

1.6. Description of the Inverters


This technical solution foresees the supply of the following types of Grid Connected Inverters
XC540

The XC Series is a new line of central inverters designed for


high efficiency and flexibility for any PV panel
type and installation. The XC series has peak efficiencies of
98.7% and its flexibility allows the inverter to be
configured with voltage and power outputs up to 680 kVA. In
addition, the XC series is designed to allow for
DC inputs up to 1000 Vdc for longer string lengths. It contains
the latest grid management features to meet
global utility requirement.

1.8. Description of the MV Equipment


This technical solution foresees the following type of MV Switchgear installed in each PV Box

RM6 NE- IDI

RM6 NE-IDI
RM6 is a range of Compact self-contained totally insulated switchgear
comprising 1 to 4 integrated, low dimension functional units.
One MV Switchgear unit of the range RM6 will be installed in the PV Box
to connect the step-up transformer to the MV network of the PV Plant
The Switchgear unit provides a circuit breaker protection function for the
step-up transformer and two switch connections to the MV network of the
PV Plant

Protection Unit
The Protection Unit is installed in the LV Compartment of the D-Function
This Protection Unit is of the SEPAM 10 digital microprocessor protection range

SEPAM 10 :
Sepam 10 with current sensors type CRa/CRb for protection of transformers
Integrated in the D-Function
Sepam 10 measures the phase and zero sequence currents.
Two types are available for a number of applications:
10B: Sepam 10B for overload, phase-to-phase faults and earth fault protection..
10A: Sepam 10A with the functions of model B, but with communication port, more inputs and outputs and
some additional control and monitoring functions.

Sepam 10
Is: the phase current is directly set up depending on the power of the transformer and the operation voltage.
Io: the earth fault tripping threshold is set-up depending on the network conditions

1.9. Description of the Array Boxes


This technical solution foresees the supply of Array Boxes with 24 or 16 channels:
The Array Box allows 2 photovoltaic strings to be connected in
parallel.
The main characteristics are as follows:
Max. permissible voltage: 1000 Vdc
IP65 cubicle or IP54 cabinet, class 2
Protection of photovoltaic strings:
o DC fuses on each pole
o option: single-pole protection (L+ or L-).
DC output switch/disconnector:
o rotary handle
o option: motor pack, undervoltage safety opening
control.
Overvoltage protection :
o lightning protection: 40 kA Type 2
Monitoring (optional):
o photovoltaic string current measurement
o DC voltage measurement
o reading of lightning protection end-of-life status
o reading of switch/disconnector status
o fuse blowing detection
o internal temperature measurement
o two external temperature measurements (modules, ambient)
o options: additional 4-20 mA inputs, for measuring wing velocity, wind direction and
o irradiance (pyranometer or reference cell).

1.10. Description of the Monitoring System


This offer covers the supply of a PV Plant Control and Monitoring System
Architecture
The Fibre Optic (FO) Ethernet networks are self-cicatrizing optical rings, increasing the availability of the system in
the event of loop failure.
The following FO loops are foreseen:

The Local Area Loops collect all the signals from the Array Boxes and PV Boxes located in the respective Area:

All Array Boxes are connected to their respective PV Box through Profibus network with four radial
branches.

To each Profibus branch are connected 3 Array boxes in daisy chain topology. The Profibus network is
connected to the the Ethernet FO/Copper Switch through PRM Modbus/Ethernet Gatreways.

All Modbus devices are connected to the Ethernet FO/Copper Switch through EGX100 Modbus/Ethernet
Gatreways.

The Ethernet Gateways are connected to the Ethernet FO/Copper Switch by copper Ethernet cables.

The Monitoring System is readily expandable to integrate additional sites by expanding the FO Loop.

The Monitoring RTU cubicle controls and monitors the MV Switchboard in the Grid connection substation
The system has an open interface to the SCADA system of the 110 kV part of the Substation.
