Prabhupāda: (singing)
cintāmaṇi-prakara-sadmasu kalpa-vṛkṣalakṣāvṛteṣu surabhīr abhipālayantam
govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi
govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi
Devotees: (singing) govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi.
Prabhupāda: (singing) govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi.
Devotees: (singing) govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi.
Prabhupāda: (singing) govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi.
Devotees: (singing) govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi.
Prabhupāda: This prayer for Govinda is from Brahma-saṁhitā. It is
very old literature, and nobody can say when it was spoken, but it is
understood that these verses were written by Brahmā, and when
Lord Caitanya was traveling in South India He picked up this book
from a temple, hand-written, and He delivered to His devotees. So, it is
very authorized book. In this book the description of Kṛṣṇa is very
vivid, vividly given. There His place, His activities, His form, everything
is there nicely given. So, this, this verse, it is, it is not first verse. This is
the 34th verse of the Fifth Chapter. Cintāmaṇi-prakara-sadmasu kalpavṛkṣa-lakṣāvṛteṣu
surabhīrabhipālayantam. That, that
place, cintāmaṇi ... Cintāmaṇi, a stone. In the transcendental world the,
as we have got experience here, the houses are made of bricks, there the
houses are made of cintāmaṇi stone. The cintāmaṇi stone is..., of
course there is no exact translation, but it is understood it is something
like touchstone. Touchstone means the stone which if it touches a iron,
it transforms into gold.
So, the abode of Kṛṣṇa is described that there are houses, cintāmaṇiprakara-sadmasu. Prakara means house. And cintāmaṇi-prakarasadmasu kalpa-vṛkṣa, and that the trees are desire trees. What is that
desire tree? Just like here in, in this material world, a tree is meant for
delivering a particular fruit or flower, but desire tree means whatever

Kalpa means whatever you like. That is a little sample only. Veṇuṁ kvaṇantam aravinda-dalāyatākṣaṁ barhāvataṁsam. the description is that Govinda is very fond of playing on flute. but He is so beautiful. He wears a very valuable helmet. Kṛṣṇa is engaged in. Immense supply of milk. But there. here you see the picture. And surabhīrabhipālayantam. Surabhiḥ means that cow supplies you milk as much as you like. So you will find Kṛṣṇa always with peacock feather. But in the transcendental kingdom the Lord is always served with all great respect and obeisances and devotion. as. Just like here in your country. What sort of cows? Surabhiḥ.you desire you get immediately delivered from the tree. and everything is complete. and His complexion of the body is blackish. as soon as you go outside the city there are hundreds and thousands of trees. peacock feather on the head. many thousands of goddess of fortune.. thousands of goddess of fortune. just like new clouds.. The tree will supply immediately. Prakarasadmasu kalpa-vṛkṣa-lakṣāvṛteṣu. "Who is Brahman? What is Brahman? What is the Absolute Truth?" (break) Devotees: (singing) . cintāmaṇi-prakara-sadmasu kalpa-vṛkṣalakṣāvṛteṣu surabhīr abhipālayantam lakṣmī-sahasra-śata-sambhrama-sevyamānaṁ govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi And that Personality of Godhead. Kṛṣṇa.Kṛṣṇa. there is neither fruit nor flower. it is present there.tam ahaṁ bhajāmi. He is not that complexion light. that such a place and such abode and such activities are described about Kṛṣṇa. Whatever you want. kalpa-vṛkṣa. He is herding cows. His eyes are just like lotus petals. Cintāmaṇi-prakarasadmasu kalpa-vṛkṣa-lakṣāvṛteṣu. there are many millions of trees which are all desire trees. and as many times you can. and. Prabhupāda: So. .. you can draw milk from that cow. Such trees are not one.. Lakṣmī-sahasra-śata-sambhramasevyamānam. Veṇuṁ kvaṇantam aravindadalāyatākṣaṁ. you like.venum. helmet on His head. whatever you will.Barhāvataṁsam asitāmbuda-sundarāṅgam. a cowherds boy. That is called. That goddess of fortune means they are most beautiful. And He likes peacock feather. The gopīs.. surabhīr abhipālayantam. Very beautiful eyes. He is blackish. Govinda. As in the Vedānta-sūtra it is said. and the Lord is worshiped by many hundreds. Venum means flute. is the original person. cintāmaṇi-prakara-sadmasu. but you will find one peacock feather. but they are meant for fuel or some other purposes.

and go off to Kṛṣṇa. You have heard the name of Cupid. then somebody is worshiping a dog. When He was playing His flute. And why not? He is so. by playing on His flute. they would give up all their family duties. enthusiastically) Jaya.. somebody is worshiping something. Kṛṣṇa is so nice. hari bol! Prabhupāda: So.. Devotees: (all shout simultaneously. somebody is worship. We have captured the original. But we are worshiping the original person. we want fair complexion. always playing on flute. kandarpa-koṭi-kamanīya-viśeṣaśobhaṁ. that you want love.Govindam ādipuruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi. atVṛndāvana. And calling us. He is blackish. here. still it can not be compared with the beauty of Kṛṣṇa. Their fathers. But Kṛṣṇa. "Where you are going? It is dead of night!" "No. His activities. Devotees: (singing) govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi. Just see our position. We are not flattering ordinary things. and shows His līlā. Prabhupāda: So just imagine the position of the Kṛṣṇa conscious person. hari bol! Prabhupāda: He is so beautiful. If you assemble millions of Cupids in one place. their brothers. somebody is worshiping the leader of the country. something. Everyone is worshiping somebody. Govindam ādipuruṣaṁ tam ahaṁbhajāmi. Veṇuṁ kvaṇantam. Kṛṣṇa. but here it is descibed.. Somebody is worshiping his wife. How lovable object! You are . His beauty is surpassing many millions of Cupids. Just to attract us. loving person. just to attract us.. (singing) veṇuṁ kvaṇantam aravinda-dalāyatākṣaṁ barhāvataṁsam asitāmbuda-sundarāṅgam kandarpa-koṭi-kamanīya-viśeṣa-śobhaṁ govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi Devotees: (singing) govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi. of course." Devotees: (laughter) Jaya. Kṛṣṇa is so beautiful. blackish we do not like. Kandarpa-koti-kamaniya-visesasobham. Kṛṣṇa. in Vṛndāvana. all the gopīs. Kandarpakoṭi-kamanīya-viśeṣa-śobhaṁ. nice flute. worshiping his husband. Prabhupāda: (singing) govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi.. a cat. but not blackish like this. we are going to Kṛṣṇa. in this material world. He is a very enchanting person.all-attractive. Here. everything. who will call them. something. the original person. their husbands. He appears at Vṛndāvana. (laughter) Kandarpa-koṭi-kamanīyaviśeṣa-śobhaṁ. And if anyone has nothing.

9.. yathā taror mūla-niṣecanena }tṛpyanti tat-skandha-bhujopaśākhāḥ prāṇopahārāc ca yathendriyāṇāṁ tatha (iva) sarvārhaṇam acyutejyā [SB 4. Please try to give Me something. He is so great.14] . a little water. a little fruit. food. everything. He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. I am supplying air. complete. You are being frustrated. He wants simply bhakti. a little leaf. He has got everything. a little fruit. because that is the token of love." And if you love only Kṛṣṇa. if you love. with a little fruit. a little water can be collected by any poor man. but Kṛṣṇa said.. This is the method. "If something should be given to Me. I am supplying you life.trying to find out something lovable.31. I am supplying you light. hari bol! Prabhupāda: So Kṛṣṇa worship is not very costly affair.. So He is not beggar. You don't require any other qualification. If you love. I am supplying you water. In what sense? He is begging your love." Devotees: Jaya. You can not reciprocate something for Me? I am asking you simply a little water. Yo me bhaktyāprayacchati tad ahaṁ bhaktyupahṛtam aśnāmi prayatātmanaḥ. little flower. He is not beggar from you a little flower. or love. then you will actually love everything." So. that's all. you contribute dollars. You are taking so many things from Me. what does He want? He wants yo mebhaktyā prayacchati. And this Govinda can be achieved simply by love. We can worship Kṛṣṇa with a little flower. Therefore He says that patraṁ puṣpaṁ phalaṁ toyaṁ yo me bhaktyāprayacchati. or millions of rupees? No. because you are loving the root. But. He is the proprietor of everything. pure love. He is full in Himself. Just like if you supply foodstuff to your stomach. The Bhāgavata describes this method. Here is something complete.26]. but what does He want from you? In the Bhagavad-gītā He says. How universal it is! A little flower. then you supply foodstuff all the parts of your body. you will become complete. Simply you have to decide that "I shall love only Kṛṣṇa. brings these things in love and devotion. patraṁ puṣpaṁ phalaṁ toyaṁ yo mebhaktyā prayacchati [Bg. therefore Kṛṣṇasays. And because a devotee is lover of Kṛṣṇa. Why Kṛṣṇa will ask you. You don't require to earn many thousands of dollars to worship Kṛṣṇa. He is beggar. aham aśnāmi: "I get that and eat that.

They are only 400. They are also born in this country. to the leaves. "Yes. but very limited. to the flowers. oh. and you do not loveKṛṣṇa. Just like. they will be very. they are not only human beings. Imperfect. but why don't you love the cows of your country? As it. flowers. And as soon as you try to love Kṛṣṇa. Have they not right to live? Oh. I am giving example. and the another section of the living entities should be sent to the slaughterhouse.Just like. "Oh. or any country. suppose a portion of human living entity you serve. and if you love the whole universe. taror mūla-niṣecanena. ants. There are living entities. take for example your country. the cows are my brothers. It is also living entity. and so many other living entities. it does not mean that other leaves are also getting the benefit. If you don't love Kṛṣṇa. It is scientific. a small number in comparison to the birds. Everyone knows it. the Bhāgavata says. I am giving example. the white people are my brothers. the black people are my brothers. what human welfare activities they will do? It is not in your power. So. at the present moment. to the fruits—everywhere. it doesn't matter.000's these. therefore there is partiality. Oh. then it is .. if you supply water on the root of the tree. it is still imperfect. then what is the value of service? What is the value of that service? Therefore. that one section of the living entities should be loved. You can do something. simply by loving Kṛṣṇa you can learn how to love everyone. So. you know in argument. That's very nice. the water is immediately transferred to the branches. because we are not loving Kṛṣṇa. the dogs are my brothers. And. There are 8. and everything of the tree.. so many other living entities. Why this defect? This defect is due to your lack of loving affairs with Kṛṣṇa. That is not very difficult to understand. in logic. hah. people are captivated for human welfare activities. then you will see." But because we do not love Kṛṣṇa. therefore we are sectarian. bests. just like watering the root of the tree you can serve all the leaves. only. and the human living entities they are only minute portion. branches. or thousand leaves. the trees are my brother." That is universal brotherhood. I am not attacking anybody. If you simply talk of universal brotherhood. they are eight million. If you take a census of the living entities in the city of San Francisco. everyone my brother. aquatics. But if you supply water to one leaf.000's of living entities.400. the ants are my brothers. you will accept. Other living entities. similarly. then the census of the human being residing in this city. just by supplying foodstuff to your stomach you can serve all the limbs of your body. You love your countrymen.

or deer skin or tiger skin. And Nārada. You will find in. they are trying to love Kṛṣṇa. Therefore." he said that "I have been educated in that way. flapping. who has done this mischief. please kill them immediately.useless. Sogovindam ādipuruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi. "My dear hunter. in our Back to Godhead there is a picture that a hunter. very easily. because they are. Therefore our process is. so you are accumulating sins. when he was passing on the path in the forest. please. They are proclaiming peace and prosperity. "No. so he became little softened." Then he explained everything. "All right. The hunter asked me. these poor animals?" So he searched out the hunter. he saw that many half-dead animals are in torture. The story and the picture you will find in Back to Godhead recently published. no. he is lover of Kṛṣṇa." "What is that?" "How. Those who have seen our Kṛṣṇa pictures. in our society. actually it is happening. Then everything will be adjusted. "What is the sin?" He said that "You are killing so many animals. I have come to request you something. because hunter's business is to kill. and they are fighting in the United Nations. and those who are following.. let me do my business. "Oh. "So my request to you is that if you want to kill animals. There are many instances. (laughter) It is useless." So hunter thought that "This mendicant is a beggar. I have come to beg something from you. this Kṛṣṇa consciousness is very urgent necessity for the human society. because he isVaiṣṇava. the hunter." So he said.. I shall give you skins. and he went there. so he might have come to me to beg some skins. And as soon as you become an expert lover. how they love everyone.. Have you got Back to Godhead here? You can show picture? The story is. it is practical. ask them how they love others. after being initiated in Kṛṣṇaconsciousness. This is very great sinful. "Oh. But where is the peace? Then where is the prosperity? Because lacking love of Kṛṣṇa." Nārada said. he is loving even the ants. So. the students in. Therefore. why you are disturbing my business?" SoNārada said. Don't kill half. So. They should learn how to love Kṛṣṇa. It is not utopian theory. and he inquired that "How to get out of these sinful activities?" . whatever you like." Then he inquired. try to love the original person.. he was very kind." So Nārada said. I take pleasure in it. and giving them so much torture?" "Oh. if you are killing animals. I am speaking very shortly. why don't you kill them all at once? Why you are killing them half. I have been trained in that way killing of animals by my father. I don't want anything from you.. a hunter was killing in the forest many animals.

don't be afraid. (laughter) So.. and contributing. two friends are coming there." "Now. somebody flour.. I shall send you all food that you require. "My dear Parvata.ThatNārada said that "If you follow my instruction. If a sannyāsī goes to the house of a householder. Nārada will send everything. So one day Nārada said to his friend Parvata." "No. That is the system. pressure of his foot. in India it is the system that if anyone goes to a temple or to a saintly person. (break) . but all these temples are being maintain." So. You give up this business. So. so many people are coming to see them. at least one palmful." So then he agreed: "If you solve my food problem. and they take some grains in hand. Vaiṣṇava. still. daily. saintly person. he saw some ants were on the feet. somebody fruit. ten. maintained by the people from the morsel of their food. "Oh. if I break my bow. and it becomes sufficient for the temple-keepers. and Nārada fixed them a place on the bank of the Ganges at Prayāga. and contributes. husband and wife. he was convinced that "If I chant Hare Kṛṣṇa. "Yes. how they have becomeVaiṣṇava. At least he should be given a little rice. I shall send you all kinds of food. that's all. and India is advertised as poverty-stricken. what I will have to do?" He said that "First of all break your bow. gradually by chanting they became very highly advanced spiritually. he will never be refused. a bare-headed boy (laughter). and he said that "You sit down here and chant Hare Kṛṣṇa. They contribute. then my business instrument is gone. in the. He was hunter. little flour." So." So the hunter and his wife went with Nārada. So when he was going to receive from distant placeNārada. then you can get free from these sinful activities. because I have given up my business. and he is sending more than twenty person foodstuffs. somebody rice.. and he was trying to remove them so that they may not die. why Nārada is sending so much? We are only two persons. That is the system in India still. by seeing the spiritual master. then I shall tell you. the ladies especially. Don't forget (laughter). twenty. I will not starve. I shall send you food." "Oh. fifty people are coming. and I have initiated him to chant Hare Kṛṣṇa. then I will follow you.. I have got a disciple inPrayāga." So." So Nāradasaid. and it is the system that the disciple. and come with me.. should immediately offer obeisances and receive him very nicely. somebody dahl. Still there are many hundreds and thousands of temples in India." they thought. Let us go and see how he is doing. "Oh." "All right sir. So." "Then how shall I eat?" "Oh." (laughter) So next day it was advertised in the village that the hunter has become aVaiṣṇava.
