close tightly will require inspection of valve seals and discs for wear and contaminant build-ups.

This guide card applies to approved backflow prevention devices installed in water lines to prevent the backflow of treated water into the
city water system. Check valves or double check valves that are not approved backflow preventers and are not included for servicing
under this guide.
Check Point:
PM Visually Check for corrosion or leaks

Test backflow preventors in accordance with the manufacturer's procedures, check and calibrate
as required. Comply with local & state codes/ regulations.

PM Drain water from filter housing.

GM Replace filter spring, "O" rings and other defective parts

Replace old filters and other parts as required per manufacturer instructions/ recommendations.

Note frequencies may vary depending upon water quality and volumes.

PM Clean and flush filter housing, filter media and screens, if applicable..

Check flue for proper draft, leaks, and corrosion. Check thermocouple for corrosion or soot.

The maintenance of Y-type strainers, as outlined by this guide, should be scheduled to coincide
with the maintenance of the equipment that they are associated with. This guide also applies to
those Y-type strainers that are at remote locations or that are not included under the guide of
equipment that they are associated with.

GM Back flush if possible or remove and clean strainer cage, if applicable.
