Reading: Eeek! Spiders!
We are going to take a break from our Wonders

creepy-crawly: spiders! Next week we will be
working on reading skills through various activities
that will help us learn more about these creatures.
We will cover work on fact/opinion, differentiating
between fiction and fact, and learn what is real and
what is myth about our 8-legged friends! There will
be NO spelling list next week.

Upcoming Events

October 10 – Picture Day!
Happy Birthday, Jon A.!
October 12 – Q1 Ends
October 17-18 – Parent/Teacher Conferences

Language/Writing: Spider Research
To accompany our reading material, students will be
researching a species of spider and writing informative
paragraphs that give facts about their spider.

Math: Topic 15: Measurement
I have decided to give a few more days of practice with
money, and our test will now be Tuesday. We will then
begin working with linear measurement. Our first lessons
will include measuring with inches, centimeters, and nonstandard units.

Science: Spider Fact and Fiction
Next week much of our activities will include learning
about spiders, and this will carry over into our science
lessons. We will also be learning about and labeling the
parts of a spider.

Super Surfer of the
