What  We’re  Learning
Reading:  We  are  close  reading  with  Henry  and
Mudge:  The  Bedtime  Thumps.  We  will  be  asking
and  answering  questions,  how  characters
respond  to  major  events,  looking  at  point  of  view,
and  text  to  self  and/or  text  connections.

Writing:  We  are  continuing  to  reinforce  nouns,
verbs,  and  writing  in  complete  sentences,  when
writing  our  Higher  Order  Thinking  journal
responses.  We  will  also  look  at  writing  complete
thoughts  on  paper.

Science:  We  will  continue  our  unit  on  solids,
liquids,  and  gases  in  matter.  We  are  using  our
National  Geographic  science  books.

Spelling:  This  week,  please  bring  Spelling
folders  to  school  with  completed  pretests  on
Monday.  Return  the  folders  on  Thursday  for  new
spelling  lists,  sorts,  and  pretests  for  the  following
week.

keep  our  classes  on  track  with  the  state  standards
regardless  of  this  lost  time.  This  requires  your  child  to  be
able  to  transition  quietly  and  quickly  on  these  days.  It  also
may  require  your  child  to  work  independently  longer  to  keep
up  with  the  academics.  We  have  really  had  major  issues
with  independent  work  time  in  both  classes.  Lots  of  talking
and  wandering  the  room  to  avoid  the  work.  Please  discuss
the  importance  of  staying  on  task  during  these  times.
