Jewish Theology: Shalom (Hebrew), cognate with Salaam (Arabic), Pax (Latin) means:

'to be complete, whole'.

Includes justice, good health, safety, well-being, prosperity, equity, security, good fortune, and friendliness
a calm, harmonious absence of conflict that this world has never known.

One of the greatest human desires is for peace:

peace between nations,

peace between neighbors, and

peace within our own minds.
Biblical assessment of men trying to work out peace: For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly,

saying, Peace, peace! when there is no peace - Jeremiah 8:11. When they say, there is peace and no danger, then sudden destruction will
come on them, as birth-pains on a woman with child; and they will not be able to get away from it 1 Thessalonians 5:3.

What cannot give lasting peace

Material Wealth/Money or a well-paying job What happens when companies lay-off their employees?
Good Health What happens when sickness saps the body or an outbreak of diseases?
Good family/Spouse What happens when there is a serious storm?
Wisdom of men or world Ask Ahithophel (2 Samuel 17:23) - Romans 3:17 (Isaiah 59:8) The way of peace they have not

The Devil (Thief) John 10:10

What are the types of peace available today?

False; world orchestrated man and or evil manipulation, very limited, outward focused and short lived
True; God orchestrated gift, activated by the Holy Spirit, unlimited (surpasses the mind/human knowledge), inward
focused (guards the heart and the mind) and everlasting (in Christ).
What are the Characteristics of this true peace that endures?
1. True peace originates from God
Our God initiated peace keeping terms because we broke His covenant. ..for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

Romans 3:23. You, Lord, give true peace to those who depend on you, because they trust you. - Isaiah 26:3 (NCV)

God provided us a way of escape from endless trouble by initiating His plan. For God had such love for the world that he gave His only Son, so that whoever has
faith in Him may not come to destruction but have eternal life - John 3:16 (BBE)

God put forth His son. Whom God has put forward as the sign of His mercy, through faith, by His blood, to make clear His righteousness when, in His pity, God let
the sins of earlier times go without punishment; and to make clear His righteousness now, so that He might himself be upright, and give righteousness to him who
has faith in Jesus Romans 3:25-26 (BBE)

The Son (Jesus) agrees to the Fathers plan. No one takes it away from me; I give it up of myself. I have the power to give it up, and I have the power to take it
again. These orders I have from my Father John 10:18 (BBE)

God wants us to know the truth and so be saved. Whose desire is that all men have salvation and come to the knowledge of what is true 1 Timothy 2:4. And
you will know the truth, and that truth will set you free John 8:32 (Aramaic Bible in Plain English)

The Peace That Endures - John 14:1,27

Let not your heart be troubled: have faith in God and have faith in me.
May peace be with you; my peace I give to you: I give it not as the world gives. Let not your heart be troubled; let it be without fear.

Without Jesus, we are susceptible to Gods wrath. For there is a revelation of the wrath of God from heaven against all the wrongdoing and evil
thoughts of men who keep down what is true by wrongdoing; Because the knowledge of God may be seen in them, God having made it clear to them

Romans 1:18-19 (BBE), he who has no faith in the Son will not see life; Gods wrath is resting on him - John 3:36 (BBE)

It is futile to look for peace outside Gods Kingdom.

Mans effort cannot promote peace - Romans 3: 9-18

The world cannot give peace like Jesus - I am leaving you with a giftpeace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give.
So dont be troubled or afraid. - John 14:27 (NLT ), I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have
trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world John 16:33 (NIV)

Only God is the God of Peace, love, grace, comfort and hope. In the Spirit, we have peace. For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the
Spirit is life and peace Romans 8:6 (BBE), Isaiah 9:6

God fills us with joy and peace as we trust Him. He believed, hoping against hope, so that he became the father of many nations, according to
what had been spoken: So will your descendants be. Romans 4:18 (HCSB); Gen 17:5, 15:5. Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and
peace as you believe in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit Romans 15:13.

Grace and peace flows from God The Father and Son (Jesus). Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:3,

Gods Kingdom is characterized by His peace. For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy

True disciples are peacemakers. God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God Matthew 5:9 (NLT)

2 Corinthians 1:2.

Spirit Romans 14:17, 19.

2. True Peace is beyond the reasoning of men. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them,
because they are spiritually discerned - 1 Corinthians 2:14 (KJV), But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,Galatians 5:22 (BSB).

Peace represents absolute tranquility; absence of war or conflict, trouble, hardship or worry

Peace is an attitude of mind something achieved by conviction, not circumstance

It is a serenity of disposition

It makes the hardest moments bearable

Laughs at coming trouble

Empowers us to be peacemakers in a world of conflict

It is beyond our ability to comprehend

It is an indescribable gift (2Corinthians 9:15) the grace of God!

Only words of thankfulness can be expressed concerning this grace (Colossians 2:7; 3:15, etc.)

It cannot be faked

It cannot be established without God

The powers of this world are anti-peace

No man can devise a system that will maintain indefinite peace on Earth

John 16:33 - I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

Jeremiah 10:23 - I know, O LORD, that a man's life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his steps.

3. True Peace guards the heart and the mind. Jesus has been counted worthy of greater glory than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor
than the house itself. For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything - Hebrews 3:2-4 (BSB).

Peace protects us emotionally and intellectually

To protect is to keep, to guard; to act as a sentinel
Peace is grounded in evidence; true faith, conviction that Gods promises are reliable; sure. Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of
things not seen Hebrews 11:1 (BSB), Hebrews 10:23

His judgements are based on obedience. but the mercy of the Lord is eternal for His worshippers. Psalm 103:17a (BBE)
Peace gives confidence that generates joy and tranquility. May the God of hope make you full of joy and peace through faith, so that all hope may be
yours in the power of the Holy spirit Romans 15:13 (BBE), 1John 3:18-24

This knowledge-based peace is able to protect our heart and mind; destructive trait (enemies of the mind), lusts of the
flesh (emotional toils) - Guard your heart more than anything else, because the source of your life flows from it Proverbs 4:23 (Gods Word).
Evidence and trusting our source gives us true peace of mind

Any violation of Gods established law breaks peace Physical, Natural or Moral (civil) and Spiritual (personal, eternal). Whatever success any
psychological therapy can have on an individual depends on the use of the principles within the Bible. Absence of godly principles in our lives remove peace, for
peace only comes from God and the practice of His morality.

4. Divine Peace is only available in Christ.

What does it mean to be in Christ?

The closest thing on Earth is marriage, the shadow of the reality we have and will experience fully in Christ for eternity - Ephesians 5:30-32
To be in Christ is to Fellowship; Participate, commune, have interchange, be identified by free association and ownership: bodily, mentally and emotionally, surrender your will and ways to your Head. Loose
yourself and be found integrated to the wholeness that is Jesus Christ Galatians 2:20
Incorporated in Christ = InC. = In Christ.
Paul uses the expression in Christ or some other equivalent 35 times in Ephesians, the epistle concerning our vehicle of incorporation on Earth, the church: His body.
Baptism is the portal to incorporation (Romans 6:3-8). Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through
baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. 5 If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly
also be united with him in his resurrection. 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin 7 because
anyone who has died has been freed from sin. 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. We die in/with Him, Buried in/with Him, Raised in/with Him to walk in newness. Not
according to our old life, Not according to our own thoughts and Not by sight, but by faith trusting in Him to lead the way. Crucified, Sanctified, justified and eventually glorified IN HIM! (1 Corinthians 6:11;
Rom 8:30)
As Jesus incorporates us into Himself we incorporate His Spirit in our own bodies. The Spirit seals us (Eph 1:13), He is our guarantee of incorporation and final glorification (2Co 1:22), He lives in us (Romans

Why Incorporation?
1. Righteousness is only in Christ (Romans 3:22)
2. Justification & sanctification is in Christ (1Co 6:11)
3. Grace and Peace is in Christ (2 Tim 1:9; 1Co 1:4)
4. Hope is in Christ (Eph 1:12)
5. Wisdom, righteousness, holiness and redemption is only in Christ (Phil 1:6; 1Co 1:30)
6. Reality is in Christ Jesus (Col 2:17)
7. No condemnation in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1)
8. Salvation is in Christ (2Tim 2:10)
9. Eternal Life can only be found in Jesus Christ (1Peter 5:10)
10. Numerous other passages show us everything we have in Christ Jesus!

How can you find this peace?

Place your trust in God
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God (Psalm 20:7).To be in Christ is to Fellowship; Participate, commune,
have interchange, be identified by free association and ownership: bodily, mentally and emotionally, surrender your will and ways to your Head. Loose yourself
and be found integrated to the wholeness that is Jesus Christ Galatians 2:20
Prioritize your spiritual walk
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will
worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own (Matthew 6:33-34).
Push past your present situation
For we live by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7)
Its easy to get stuck in our present situation and miss the glory that God wants to reveal in us. Our peace evaporates just like it did for Peter when he stepped
out on the water to walk towards Jesus. (Matthew 14:29-31) Peace isnt the absence of a stormy situationits the ability to remain calm and faithful in spite of
the uncertainty.
Peace be still
The disciples were afraid for their lives and woke Jesus in a frenzy because of the fierceness of the storm. He said three simple words, Peace be still and the
entire weather system complied. (Mark 4:39-41). Can you imagine the amazement of these tough and experienced fishermen?

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to
him, and he will make your paths straight. - Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)
Dont worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all
he has done. Then you will experience Gods peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace
will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT )
If peoples thinking is controlled by the sinful self, there is death. But if their thinking is controlled by the
Spirit, there is life and peace. - Romans 8:6 (NCV)
Those who love your teachings will find true peace, and nothing will defeat them - Psalm 119:165 (NCV)

YAHWEH-SHALOM: The Lord Our Peace (Judges 6:24) the name

given by Gideon to the altar he built after the Angel of the Lord assured
him he would not die as he thought he would after seeing Him.

Having a quiet spirit in a storm of trouble doesnt make any human sense. But our God is supernatural, and He is living inside us in
the form of the Holy Spirit, so we can remain peaceful.
No matter what harsh circumstances may challenge our faith, peace grounded in Christ cannot be broken. With the Fathers
omnipotent hand protecting and providing for us, what reason do we have to be afraid or fretful? What we must do is keep our
eyes and our faith focused upon the Lord. The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, because he trusts in You (Isaiah
We live in a world of conflict, and we often find ourselves suffering heartache. Its easy to become fixated on a situation and how it
has disrupted our lives. But peace comes from choosing to trust that God will bring about a resolution in His time and in His way.
Daniel and the three Hebrew men understood this and it helped keep their inner being at rest/peace.

Jesus Christ is the only One who offers true peacea lasting contentment that is unbreakable, no
matter what missiles Satan may hurl. However, a sinful life makes peace impossible because a
person cannot experience assurance of Gods care when he or she acts in defiance of His will.
When a believer expresses faith in Jesus, the battle for self-rule is won. Submission to the Lord
allows His peace to permeate ones life.
When the Holy Spirit lives within us, we can approach life confidently and serenely. The only way
to get this lasting peace is through a relationship with the Savior. Paul explains in Romans 5:1 that
to be justifiedthat is, declared no longer guiltywe must accept the sacrifice Christ made in our
place. Justification makes us right with God and opens our hearts to peace.

If you havent yet acknowledged to God that you recognize His Sons loving sacrifice made on
your behalf, then you dont have real peace. Now is the right time to surrender to Him.
Say, Dear God, I ask you to come and be the center of my life today. I repent and turn to you
today. I accept you as my Lord and savior. Take absolute control of my life. I receive you and I
believe you. Thank you Jesus for dying for me. Amen.
