1.

Purpose
The purpose of this procedure is to provide norms for consumption of penetrant
materials in proper ratio.

2.

Scope
This procedure is applicable to all concerned in Reliance and covers the norms for
consumption of penetrant materials for various types of jobs covering:

3.

4.

Piping

of this procedure for consumption.

5.

HOD - QMD is responsible to maintain this procedure.

DCC is the custodian of this document.

Methodology
Trial was conducted on single V groove weld, 40-degree bevel angle. It was observed
that approximately 1.6 square meter area is covered with one set of penetrant
material (1 bottle penetrant, 5-bottle cleaner, 3-bottle developer. Each aerosol can
contains 280ml) with 4 meter lint free cloth for cleaning.
Considering site condition, 20% wastage was taken into consumption calculation for
groove welds on pressure vessel /tankage/structure. In order to take care of
additional consumption in piping due to curvature, 50% extra consumption is
considered for piping.
