From Web of Science:
1 2 After doing a search in Web of Science and viewing the results’ list, check  desired references and click If you are not logged in to MyEndNote Web, you will be directed to MyEndNote Web sign in. Login with email address (not user name) and password If you are already logged in, you will be directed to the “Processing Records” page Click My EndNote Web and note references in Unfiled group

From a Database (Not Web of Science):

Do a search in Academic Search Elite View results’ list and add desired references to your folder. Click at top of page click then check  the items you want to export and click

Check “Direct Export to EndNote, ProCite, or Reference Manager” radio button and click Save Save to desktop or wherever you prefer and assign title; be sure to save as .ris document (Some databases work flawlessly; others are challenging because of import filters.) Open My EndNote Web, if it isn’t open Under the Collect tab in My EndNote Web, click Import References Browse for the file and Open Select a Filter from the drop down list (In this case, select Refman RIS) Put the citations in the Unfiled, or desired, group and click Import Click Unfiled, or desired group, to check references To edit a reference, click Edit on the My References page. To delete, click the check box to the left of the record and click Delete.

Manually
1 2 3 References can also be manually added under the Collect tab by clicking New Reference and filling out fields. Click Save. Do NOT use the Online Search under the Collect tab to gather references from other databases. Instead, search and Export references via the individual databases

Organizing Items in EndNote  
Grouping:
1. 2. 3. 4. Create a New Group by clicking Unfiled in the My References’ list (References are stored Unfiled until they are assigned to groups) Check any desired references to assign to group Drop down to the New Group link under Add to group and highlight Enter a New Group name and click OK

Note: these instructions are for older versions of EndNote Desktop, if you have EndNote X or more current, the process is much easier. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. In EN Desktop, apply the EndNote Export style (You may have to download it first) to the Library you wish to export. Under File menu, select Export When prompted, Save the file as a text file (.txt). Open your EndNote web account and navigate to the Collect tab Select the Import References tab under the Collect tab Select Browse and find the file you just saved For Filter, select EndNote Web Import Once Import is complete, navigate to My References; the library will now be in the unfiled folder and may be sorted as necessary.

 
Sharing:

Under the Organize tab, check the Share box for the desired group to begin sharing process Click Manage Sharing; you will be directed to another page Click Start sharing this group Enter email addresses of those you want to share file with, decide if they will Read only or Read & Write and Apply & Close window Click Others’ Groups under the Organize tab to see groups shared with you

 
Finding Duplicates:
1. 2. To check your library for duplicate citations click the Find Duplicates button in the Organize tab. Unique items can be in more than one group OR be in the same group more than once. The Find Duplicates function does not distinguish between the two. Any reference identified with a light yellow background is a duplicate and can be deleted; to do so click Delete. Be careful! Duplicate references can be deleted from all groups at one time. To determine the group location of a duplicate item, click the edit link to the right of the citation and scroll to the bottom.

In EndNote Web navigate to the Format tab and select Export References. Select the list you wish to export and select EndNote Export from the from the Export style list Click Save and be sure to save as a text file (.txt). Open EN Desktop and select Import from the File menu Select Choose File and then select the file you just saved Set the Import Option to EndNote Import. Set other boxes as desired. Click Import.

Getting Items out of EndNote
The Format tab allows you to output your references in a specific writing style for emailing, saving, or printing.

Using Cite While You Write (CWYW) 
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Install web plug-in for Windows or Mac., found under Options > Download Installers in the My EndNote Web This creates an EndNote Web toolbar in Word. In the toolbar, select   . Select the Application tab and select the program you’re using (probably EndNote Web) and click OK To add an in text citation, select the on the End Note Toolbar. Then search by topic, title, or author keyword to find citations in your EndNote Web library. Highlight the citation you want and click Insert. To change the bibliographic style, click & select style from drop-down menu. Click OK.

Create a Bibliography:
1. 2. 3. 4. Select the Format tab and the Bibliography subtab Select your group or library and a Bibliographic style. Select a File format from the drop down menu. Click the Save, E-mail, or Preview & Print buttons.

Export Items in a file:
