Work and Pray


Religion

Unit 6.2 How Can We Work Towards Building a Just World During Lent?
This unit explores mission. It highlights the mission of Jesus as announcing
the reign of God and it investigates how the baptised people work to bring
about the reign of God, which is a time of truth, justice love and peace.
Unit 6.3- Easter: A Time to Celebrate Hope in the Risen Lord.
This unit explores the disciples experience of the Resurrection and Ascension
of Jesus. As we die with Jesus, we rise with Jesus also. The unit is aimed to
teach us about hope in everlasting life. It explores the feast days, scripture and
prayers that we express and celebrate our belief in everlasting life.

Mathematics
Numeracy will be taught in groups across Stage 3.
Students will be in differentiated groups within their class. This term we will be
covering number topics. They are problems solving of addition, subtraction,
multiplication, division, fractions and decimals, and units of measurement.
Students are encouraged to improve the speed and accuracy of their tables
cells.

Sports Days:

Physical Education
6M and 6P will be participating in Got Game
every Tuesday. Correct Sport Uniform should
be worn on this day.

Creative & Practical Arts

English
The English focus for this term will be a study of how young people are
portrayed in the media. Students will explore different stereotypes, and
points of view, and will look at how different forms of media use specific
techniques in order to persuade their audiences.
Reading activities this term will focus on developing students' vocabulary
and comprehension skills through exposure to a range of literary texts
related to the concept of poetry. Spelling will continue to be taught
explicitly using the Spelling Rules! text. The students will focus on a
different list of words each week. Writing activities will develop students'
skills in grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Speaking and listening activities will be integrated across all KLAs.
Students will be encouraged to present their work to the class and
participate in class discussion. Neat, legible handwriting and
presentation of work will be expected.

History
Students will be engaging in a learning sequence to develop their
historical inquiry skills by investigating the key figures and events that
led to Australias Federation. Individually and as a group they will
produce a range of presentations, narratives and descriptions of life at
the time of Federation, based on evidence from their examination of
historical sources.
Excursion: March 31st 1st April. Overnight to Canberra.

Personal Development & Health


Fit for life: Students learn how to contribute to an active and
healthy lifestyle and how to be responsible for maintaining health
and wellbeing

Visual Art: Art will be linked with studies in

Science

History, English and Religion focusing on Art


appreciation as well as design.

In this unit, students will explore how the patterns in the sky relate to days, months and years.
Students understanding of how observation and models can be used to shape ideas and
understandings is developed through hands-on activities and student-planned
investigations. Students also investigate the elements of our Solar System and Earths position
within it.

Music: Musical learning will include the

research and appreciation of music past &


present, and presentation of this to the class.
This focus will assist students to develop
listening & explore musical concepts.

Homework

Library

Homework should not exceed 30 minutes a


night (Mon - Mon) and may include reading
and associated tasks, review of spelling
rules, and maths mentals and Religion
revision for upcoming test.

Library sessions will support our


English using the focus of
Grammar concepts. Year 6P will
attend library on a Monday and
Year 6M will attend library on
Wednesday.

All activities are to be completed during the


week and returned to school on Monday.
