2016 at Amir Khusro Hall, Library Auditorium, Delhi Public Network,

S.P. Mukherjee Marg, Opp. Old Delhi Railway Station, Delhi-110006.
Origin of the term environment is considered from the French word/term “Environia” which means
“to surround”. Environment also refers to biotic (living) and abiotic (non-living or physical) world.
So, we can say that the surrounding in which any organisms lives is called environment. Organisms
and the environment are two active and composite components of nature, where environment
regulates the life of the organisms including human beings. Key to the future of mankind is relying
only in sustainable development. Continuously growing problems like pollution, loss of forget, solid
waste & e-waste disposal, degradation of environment, issues like economic productivity and national
security, Global warming, the depletion of ozone layer and loss of biodiversity have made everyone
aware of environmental issues. The United Nations Conference on Environment and Development
held in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 and world Summit on Sustainable Development at Johannesburg in
2002 have drawn the attention of people around the globe to the deteriorating condition of our
environment. It is clear that no citizen of the earth can afford to be ignorant of environment issues.
Environmental management has captured the attention of health care managers. Managing
environmental hazards has become very important. The media in today’s scenario plays a vital role in
creating awareness and raising any social issue or matter which is related to public interest. As we
know that in the present scenario when the technology is so advanced and each and everyone has
access to it and due to this reason media has also reached to the every nook and corner of the world.
