The Barefoot Eco Hotel is an ecological touristic structure that follows the Ecotourism principles of

uniting Sustainability and Conservation, involving Local Community within its activities. The Barefoot
has maximized the Sustainability of the structure, intended to have minimal impact on the local
environment and reduce its carbon footprint. It is a Natural Health Retreat where body and spirit are
nurtured and restored.
LOCATION
The Barefoot is located within an almost untouched forest on Hanimadhoo island in the preserved deep
North of Maldives. This 4 star Eco Hotel is well connected to Male international airport by numerous
daily 45 minutes flights. Due to its luxuriant vegetation and privacy everybody can fall in an untouched
nature, living the genuine and natural Maldives with all modern accommodation facilities. A half mile
private sandy beach and a turquoise lagoon frame the hotel. Beach umbrellas, sun beds and beach towels
are available.

ROOMS
40 high standard and fully furnished rooms, in two storey blocks of 4 rooms each:
20 Beach Front - on the ground floor, with direct access to the white beach. Large size rooms (about 50
sqm including the veranda), double or twin bedded, with the possibility of an extra bed. Some of them are
connecting rooms and named Family Room.
20 Ocean View - upper floor with a spectacular sea view. Large size rooms (about 50 sqm including the
veranda), double or twin bedded, with the possibility of an extra bed. Some of them are connecting

Features: The rooms are spacious, creatively designed, comfortable and have an ensuite elegant natural
stone bathroom with shower. All rooms have solar panels, a private veranda or terrace with sit outs, a
desk, independent controlled air-conditioning, ceiling-fan, desalted water (hot and cold), safe box and
hairdryer. On charge: telephone with direct external line, minibar, tea and coffee makers. Twice daily
housekeeping service. The position allows privacy and remoteness to generators and public areas.

RESTAURANT AND BAR

Buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the main sea view restaurant. Guests can enjoy typical
dishes of the Mediterranean cuisine as well as international and oriental dishes. Vegetarian corner.
The panoramic bar next to the main restaurant and the ice cream parlor looking directly out over the sea
are ideal gathering places to sip soft drinks, fresh juices and healthy cocktails.

Two seminar rooms, library, board games, telescope, wi-fi free of charge throughout the hotel. On charge:
an original boutique with clothes and crafts, offering tailor-made service, laundry (no dry-clean).
THE HANIMADHOO CONSERVATION CENTER

Activities within The Barefoot are led under the environmental supervision of the Conservation Centre.
All of them have been thought and developed to reduce impact on one hand, and contribute to the
monitoring of biodiversity and to the Local Community economy, on the other one. Guests have the
chance to concretely contribute to the process, for example joining the "conservation snorkeling" within a
monitoring framework.
Open lab sessions: to discover our daily marine research efforts to carry out programmes within the structure
and get involved by the marine biologists in their scientific work.

SPORT AND FITNESS

Free of charge fully equipped Gym, canoes. On charge: windsurfing, Kyte, Hobby Cat, snorkeling trips,
night and fluorescent snorkeling, natural and cultural escorted bike tours, guided star watching, big game
and light game sport fishing, guided kayak trips.
A 22 x 5 meters saltwater swimming-pool is also available.
DIVING CENTER
The diving center guarantees the highest level of quality and professionalism and offers complete sets of
rental equipment including BCD, masks, snorkels, fins, wetsuits, dive computers and underwater digital
cameras as well as customized services, suitable for both adults and children. All level courses are
available. Free try dive. There are 20-30 dive spots at a boat distance of 20-40 minutes, they can be reached by
dhoni and/or speed boat. Diving excursions to Makunudhoo where whale sharks are present for several
months a year. Manta and Dolphin dives in season.
RELAX AND BEAUTY
On charge: SPA, offering a natural health retreat, holistic treatments and classic massages services. Our
detox programmes are research-based and combine medical science with holistic therapies. Guests can
chose a personal yoga program or simply join our schedule of complimentary yoga classes. Treatment
rooms: 3 outdoors (inside a pond) and 3 indoors.
CHILDREN
Children are welcome. Parents are kindly requested to look after their children avoiding situations which
could spoil the tranquility and atmosphere which is typical of the hotel.
The Conservation Center and the Diving Center organize numerous activities for children.
DRESS CODE
Either during the day or in the evening, guests must avoid going to the bar and to the restaurant in beachwears, wet clothes or without wearing a t-shirt. In the evening and after dinner shorts and sarong pants are
allowed. Guests may walk around the common areas barefoot and are requested to use mobile phones
without ring tones.
