Subject: Need your help please --recruiting for Intro to Digital Technology - Web
and Digital Design Pathway.
I teach the Web and Digital Design Pathway at Woodland High School. The first
course is Intro to Digital Technology. We get lots of 9th graders in the course, and I
am grateful that you are promoting our course. So, thank you so much!
I would appreciate your help in recruiting more females for this pathway. The
Computer/IT field has lots of opportunities for females as well as males. This year I
only have 4 girls the entire day in all of my classes. It may be because the title of
the course Intro to Digital Technology may sound daunting to some people. We
seem to only attract male students. We do lots of creative work in this pathway
including:

Photo editing
Creating logos
Brochures
Flyers
Business cards
Greeting Cards
Web Design layouts and graphics

We spend about 3-4 weeks working in Photoshop. Students will also have the
opportunity to use their creativity to design websites. We use several Adobe
programs and also HTML, Weebly and Wix for our websites.

I have taught this class for many years at Woodland. In the past during the time
that the title of the courses were simply Beginning Web Design and Advanced Web
Design, we had a very good mix of males/females. Once the course title changed to
Intro to Digital Technology, the majority of the students who signed up were
males. Our second course is called Digital Design, and the third course is called Web
Design now.

Please help me promote this course to all groups so we can reach everyone
including non-traditional students. When the time approaches for registration,
please let me know what I can do to assist all of you in promoting this course. I
have flyers and course descriptions. I also would love to come over to the middle
schools to meet with the counselors and speak with the students about careers in
this field.

Thank you for your help!

Good afternoon Mr. Turner,

My name is Alec Aguilar and had a conversations with Ms. Robinson who gave me
your email address. I work for a local staffing agency in Cartersville, GA. I wanted to
know if your school partners with employers to offer work opportunity to your high
school students. Currently we have warehouse work at a local cold storage facility.
We do have an age requirement of 18 years of age and older. We offer a second
shift schedule that begins until 5:00pm, which we feel will be great for your
students. Nonetheless, I would love it if you can reach out to me for a quick chat
about this opportunity.
Thank you in advance for your time,
