Location:

Task:

Modifying the toile bodice commercial patterns to fit.

Skills and knowledge

acquired

Today I learnt how to modify a commercial pattern piece. I needed to extend one
piece by 3cm, so I learnt that by removing one side of a seam allowance
(1.5cm), then adding the 3cm in between, this would extend the bodice without
distortion.

(Maximum 100 words)

By shortening the seam allowance to 1cm instead of 1.5cm, distorts the top and
bottom seam line, as the fabric pieces do not then align. I was then able to
modify all the pattern pieces to ensure they are at the correct width.
I was able to use these newly modified pattern pieces to cut the lining fabric,
although I believe one of the front two panels is short, so we will be altering this
piece next.

How might this

activity impact on the
Internship outcome

This affects the outcome because I know have a greater understanding of

pattern modifications, so when I proceed to the basque, I will be able to
successfully complete the modification for the electronics. I also have the
knowledge to be able to modify the organza skirt overlay length.
