SCRIPT [HEHEHEHE SORRY IDK HOW TO ACTUALLY SCRIPT]

TITLE CARD
Voiceover: Wait. Stop right there. Im guessing you read the word Chemistry and most of
your brain just shut off. I get it. Chemistry sounds boring. Show of hands, who likes
chemistry?
*ANNOYING BUZZER SOUND*
Voiceover: TRICK QUESTION! Even if you said you didnt, you actually do! You just dont
know it yet. You see, if you like anything made of matter, meaning it has mass and weight,
you pretty much like chemistry. Youre just not sure how it works.
Voiceover: Still not convinced? Fine, Ill show yo--WAIWAIWAIT NO DONT TURN OFF
YOUR BRAIN AGAIN. I promise, this wont be boring. Lets start with something fun. Lets
say...its your birthday, and youre having pizza. Between you and your friends, its pretty
easy to cut the pizza.
*PIZZA IS CUT TO LIKE 10 or so pieces.*
Voiceover: Everybody can get some pizza. But what if you were friends with everybody in
the neighborhood?
*PIZZA IS CUT TO LIKE IDK 50 PIECES*
Voiceover: Not impossible, yeah. Pretty tiny bits of pizza but everyone gets a bite. Or a
nibble. But what if yOU WERE FRIENDS WITH EVERYBODY IN THE PLANET?
*PIZZA IS BASICALLY A MOUND OF CRUMBS*
Voiceover: Yeah, thats tough. So how many times can you cut a pizza? Whats the tiniest
piece of pizza someone can get? And what does any of this have to do with Chemistry??
Well, everything. You just have to replace the pizza
*pizza VANISHES*
with, well, everything.
*ZOOM OUT EFFECT INTO STOCK PHOTO OF THE EARTH ( the earth )*
Voiceover: Take any matter on Earth. Take any matter anywhere, really. Split it enough
times, zoom in close enough, this is what youre gonna see.
*ZOOM IN EFFECT INTO ATOMIC MODEL.*
Voiceover: Atoms. This itty-bitty thing makes up everything you can see! Though, you cant
see it with the naked eye.

Atoms are kind of like people. There are a lot of them, and some of them look and act
differently from others. Scientists have grouped atoms together, based on which ones look
and act the same. And these groups are called elements! There are so many elements,
scientists made a table for all of them.
*ACTUAL PICTURE OF TABLE*
THE PERIODIC. TABLE. OF. ELEMENTS!
*PICTURE OF TABLE. NOW WITH ACTUAL PICTURE OF ACTUAL PERIODIC TABLE
OF ELEMENTS ON TOP OF THE TABLE oh god save me the memes*
These elements are everywhere. The very air we breathe is made of oxygen, nitrogen,
argon, carbon dioxide, and so much more!
Now, hold on, mysterious voice, you might be saying again. Carbon dioxide? Thats not
one of the 118 elements I know by heart. What gives? Well, hypothetical twelve year old,
carbon dioxide is a MOLECULE.
*CHILDRENS VOICE: MOLECOOOLS??? WHATRE THOOOSE*
MOLECOOL INDEED! Molecules are two or more atoms bonded together. But you really
shouldnt trust these molecules though. They make up everything.
*SANS*
Another popular molecule is called Dihydrogen Monoxide. You may have heard of him. His
friends call him Water.
*SHOT OF A GLASS OF WATER*
AND THIS IS WHAT WATER LOOKS LIKE
*ZOOM EFFECT INTO MOLECULAR WATER MODEL (btw rose make this a tiny animation
if u can because water so moving around sila yes ty)*
AT A MOLECULAR LEVEL
Each molecule of water is just 2 atoms of Hydrogen and one atom of Oxygen.
*ARROWS ON MODEL POINTING TO WHICH IS WHICH MAYBE??*
*THEN ZOOM BACK OUT TO GLASS OF WATER*
Waters pretty laid-back at this temperature. He just goes with the flow. Hes liquid.
*MAGICAL HAND COMES IN AND MANIPULATES THE GLASS*

The molecules of a liquid are close, but theyre not quite stuck to each other. They move
around, and that, plus a bit of gravity, is why liquids follow the shape of their containers.
But Water, sometimes, he really likes to chill. And what happens then? Well...
*ZOOM INTO MOLECULAR MODEL HEXAGONAL CRYSTALLINE STRUCTURE (google it
fam)*
When the temperatures cold enough, water stops going with the flow. All the molecules are
stuck together. And it stops being a liquid. Now,
*ZOOM OUT INTO PICTURE OF ICE*
Its a solid. You know it better as ice. Unlike liquids, the molecules of a solid are stuck
together, meaning they define the shape and the form, not the container its in. So ice is
going to stay the way it is. Unless the temperature goes up, and it melts! Then its back to
water.
*small water puddle on table.*
Now, what would happen if-*water puddle gets smaller*
--if instead of cooling down-*smaller*
--the water-*gone*
--Hey. Whered it go? Its gone! Gosh, and its such a hot day too. Oh! Thats it! Its not gone!
Its GAS! Its everywhere. How? Well, if you look at it at a molecular level,
*ZOOM INTO MOLECULAR MODEL H2O MOLECULES FAR APART AND MOVING
ABOUT*
When water gets hot enough, it turns into gas. Gas has absolutely no chill. It wants to go
everywhere, all at once. If you can get it in a container, itll spread to fill that container
completely. Of course, if you forget to keep that container airtight, itll go EVERYWHERE.
Solid
*SOLID WATER MOLECULAR MODEL*
Liquid

*SCREEN SPLITS INTO TWO, SOLID NEXT TO LIQUID*

And Gas
*SCREEN SPLIT INTO THREE, YOU GET IT*
These three are called physical states of matter. And almost all matter on Earth is in one of
those three states, and some things, like water, constantly shifts between them.
But how? Well, you might have guessed this, but temperature. The hotter it gets, the more
molecules want to move, and vice versa. If it gets cold enough, the water freezes into ice. If
it gets hot enough, itll evaporate, turn into water vapor. But the ice, the water, and the water
vapor, theyre all made of the same stuff.
*WATER MOLECULAR MODEL*
2 Hydrogens and 1 Oxygen. That doesnt change, not with temperature. Changes in physical
state, like freezing or evaporating, are called physical changes.
But are there changes that can affect matter on the molecular level? Sure! But well save
that for next time.
So what do you think? Chemistrys the study of matter, the ways they bond
*MOLECULAR MODEL AGAIN YAY*
And the ways they break up.
*PICTURE OF MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE*
When you think about it that way, its hard not to like Chemistry. Its all around us. Its in all
matter, including you. Thats right. You matter.
How do I know that?
Easy. Chemistry.
*the end*
