The Paw Sox donating $100,000 to Rhode Island Community Food Bank
Sept. 27, 2016 – Providence, R.I. – The owners of the Pawtucket Red Sox are excited to
give back to the community with a hefty donation taking place Thanksgiving week 2016
to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. The $100,000 being donated will create new
community outreach programs for families. Programs with teach families how to cook
healthy meals and provide weekly deliveries of vegetables and fruits to low-income
neighborhood centers from December-March.
Owners of the team Larry Lucchino, former Boston Red Sox president and chief
executive, and James J. Skeffington, Rhode Island attorney, believe this is important for
the team as well as the community.
“Making a difference is what PawSox baseball has always been about,” Lucchino said.
Skeffington believe that entertainment and giving back is what matter most.
“Baseball is to entertain as it is to help those in need this upcoming winter season,” he
said.
Kick-off for the event will be hosted by the Food Bank November 21 @ 12:30 p.m. at the
R.I. Food Bank. Students and families from local schools are expected to be in
attendance.

Dear Mr. Corey;

The owners of the Pawtucket Red Sox are donating $100,000 to the Rhode Island
Community Food Bank and I would like to offer you exclusive information before the
kick-off of the event. The money donated will create new community outreach programs
for families, which will teach families how to cook healthy meals and provide weekly
deliveries of vegetables and fruits to low-income neighborhoods.

This donation to the food bank combines sports with community out-reach programming.
The coming winter is forecasted to be harsh. With that in mind, the need for food in lowincome communities is at all time high. This donation coming from the Paw Sox is
needed now more than ever. It is a blessing to the community. The Paw Sox is making a
big difference in the surrounding Rhode Island neighborhoods.

Awareness to these efforts allows others in the area to continue to support the Paw Sox
and the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.

Please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
Candice
