PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
This is a 24-hour skill-based course designed to provide a framework for
learning basic skills that may save a life or prevent injury in Pre-hospital
settings. Emergency Medical Responder is a classroom and outdoor,
video-based, and instructor-led course that teaches students critical
skills needed to respond to and manage victims who needed first aid
while waiting for medical expert. Students will learn the basic skills on
how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid
emergencies. This course also teaches adult CPR and AED use and BLS
for participants with medical background. It also includes BRISC module
(Body substance isolation, risk assessment, initial assessment, secondary
assessment and transport, triaging START (simple triage and rapid
treatment), proper body mechanics in lifting and moving,
communication from dispatch and proper advance call.

INTENDED AUDIENCE:
This course is for healthcare providers (lay rescuers) who want to be
equipped with lifesaving skills in responding to an emergency.

CERTIFICATION:
In the classroom setting, students participate in simulated emergency
scenarios. The participants will work with an AHA Instructor to
complete first aid skills and CPR AED Skills and EMR certification.
