My name is Elyssa Kneisler
My mentors name is Rob Bluhm

WHAT IS ISM?
A class that allows students to study hands on outside the classroom and in a real
life job setting.
Includes 15 hours the 1st 9 weeks and 18 the 2nd 9 weeks
A minimum of 3 mentor ship hours, hours spent studying and shadowing your
mentor, per week and 2 activity hour, hours spent working on either project or
other ISM class work.

Hope Rehab Physical Therapy
is a clinic that offers
orthopedic physical therapy
thats is know to excel in both
manual therapy and exercise
prescription.

MYOFASCIAL RELEASE
A treatment thats goal is to
release tension in the fascia
due to either trauma, bad
posture, or inflammation.
Its a safe hands on
treatment involving gentle
applied pressure into the
connective tissue that is
restricted in order to
eliminate pain and restore
movement and full range of
motion.

Myo meaning muscle


Fascia referring to the
connective tissue that
surrounds the muscle, bones,
nerves, and organs
Has a similar representation
to a spider web or a sweater;
its one structure thats
continues from head to toe
with no other interruption

JOHN BARNE, PT
He began to develop his
Myofascial Release Approach in
the 1970s
He graduated from the
University of Pennsylvania in
1960
He became an international
lecturer of his Approach to
Myofascial Release

CLASP KNIFE REFLEX


A stretch reflex with an abrupt
decrease in resistance when
attempting to flew a joint
Gets name from the similarities
between the motion of the body
limb and the closing of a clasp
knife

COMPLEX REGIONAL PAIN SYNDROME


A chronic pain condition usually affecting with the limbs
typically after an injury ir trauma
Caused by damage to the peripheral and central nervous
system
Can happen at any age to both men and women
Symptoms include
-prolonged pain
-pins and needles sensation

What I like most about Myofascial Release:

Myofascial release is extremely relative to my


career goal as an athletic trainer. I first learned
about it two years ago at a Texas A & M Sports
medicine summer camp this project just helped me
expand my knowledge on myofascial.
