Company overview
Introduction
Afriquia Gaz is the Moroccan leader in the distribution of liquefied
petroleum gas, butane and propane. The company offers efficient
energy solutions that covers both domestic and professional needs.
With its five commercial brands: Afriquia Gas, Gas Tissir, Campingaz,
Ultragaz and National Gas; Afriquia Gaz pursue a primary objective
which is the satisfaction of its customers. With a storage capacity of
approximately 75 000 tons, Afriquia Gaz fills its stocks from the four
filling plants a quantity of 800 000 t/year. These centers are supplied
from three terminals spread over the country (Agadir, Jorf Lasfer and
Mohamedia). As part of the new National Energy Policy that states that
aim to develop its autonomous supply of energy, the operator
conducted an expansion project at Jorf Lasfer which increased the
storage capacity to 24 000 tons. With a convoy of 21 million bottles, the
distribution network of the company network consists of 180 retailer
spread across the kingdom and distribute about 1 Million T of liquefied
petroleum gas per year with number of trucks that exceed 1300
vehicles. Afriquia Gas offers a complete range of products with butane
gas bottle of 3, 6 and 12 kg, red for Afriquia Gas brand and blue for
Tissir gas. For propane, the company is marketing a blue bottle of 34 kg
which is ideal for intensive use. Moreover, for the Propane gas, its
qualities is optimized and enhanced through aerial and buried tankers.
Thus the propane gas is transformed to a gas that combines
performance and suppleness to satisfy all needs.

Compared to other energy sources, the propane has a higher energy


output. The activity Sectors where propane brings real added value are
multiple. For large companies as for PME-PMI, propane is the perfect
energy solution.

Client satisfaction
The company give also a great importance to the satisfaction of their
client. They provide their customer with many services such as the most
important stockage capacity and availability of gas in the country, which
assure a permanent availability for professional to work without
interruption. In addition, the trade advisors accompany each customer to
define his needs according to the energy consumption and available space
within his structure. The security is also important for Afriquia Gas, the
company systematically checks for the general condition of the tank and
that the equipment work correctly during all the deliveries. The creation of
the CRC (Centre Relation Client) has demonstrated the determination of
Afriquia gaz to meet its customer needs and its concern to respond to their
requests in the most efficient way. The center is a strategic pivot between
stakeholders, customers, supply chain, production teams, and
maintenance. All inquiries and complaints are centralized, which allows to
study them in the most optimum way. Once the client request is transfered
to the service or the person concerned, the customers can check at any
time the management process and, if necessary, inform the client of the
status their application. In 2010, the CRC has been certified ISO 9001
version 2008 for the quality of its service and the professionalism of its
teams.

Social responsibility
As a partner of citizens and a responsible company, Afriquia Gaz adopts an
integrated management system that anchors the quality, hygiene, safety
and the environment at the heart of its corporate culture. This culture,
combined with a sense of responsibility and a firm commitment has
enabled it to obtain the QHSE certification (according to three international
standards: ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001). A certification that
comes devote its policy based on a vision of excellence in every way. As a
result, Afriquia gaz joins the ranks of the pioneering companies that
respect their environment, their employees and their community. Afriquia
Gas, as a responsible and a conscious company of the role and
responsibilities it incumbent, monitors the health of its employees. A set of
actions are implemented to establish a hygiene culture and prevent all the
risks that are associated with it. So Afriquia Gaz develops its activities
without jeopardizing the health of its employees, partners and customers.
The company Afriquia Gaz ensure the development of its activities in full
compliance with the environment, by reducing the impact of the emissions
and waste in natural environments by reducing its consumption of natural
resources. All of these components constitutes a real charter of conduct
for the company and a deep commitment to the protection of the
environment.

History of the company


1968- Putting into service of the first filling station in Marrakech.
1970- Creation of the filling center of Ain Sebaa by MAGHREB GAZ a
subsidiary of AKWA GROUP, in association with the Texaco Company.
Launching the distribution of bulk propane.
1992- Legal launch of the company GAZ AFRIQUIA by Ahmed Oulhadj
Akhannouch when the company AFRIQUIA SMDC transferred its gas
business.
1994- Building of the filling station Harbil, industrial storage unit and filling
of GPL at 12 km from Marrakech.
1999- Going public and capital increase.

2005- Merger / acquisition of Tissir Primagaz.


2007- ISO 9001: 2000 certification.
2008- Extension of the propane storage terminal in Jorf Lasfar with a
capacity of 3900 T.
2009- Extension of the butane storage terminal in jorf lasfar for a capacity
of 19,200 T. Acquisition of the company National Gaz from RepsolButano,
located in Oujda and specializes in direct distribution of butane gas
bottles.
2010- Obtaining of the triple certification QHSE. Acquisition of the
company BUTAFRIC in Tangier.
2013- Renewal of the triple certification QHSE

Organization of the company


The company has a complete infrastructure.
1- Storage terminals
JORF LASFAR Terminal: The terminal of Jorf Lasfar is directly
connected to the port of Jorf Lasfer by a pipeline. Its capacity
for the Propane is 4000 Tons, and of the capacity of the Butane
increased to 20,000 tons after commissioning the new storage

capacities of Jorf Lasfar in 2011.


Stogaz (Mohamedia): 50% is owned by Akwa Group, Stogaz
stores GPL, and mainly propane. Its storage capacity reaches

2000 tons. In addition, an expansion project is under study.


Gaz Afric (Agadir):50% is owned by Akwa Group, Afric Gas
has a 7500 tons storage capacity. Located in Agadir, this

terminal helps to supply the southern regions of Morocco.


SOMAS (Socit Marocains de Stockage Mohammedia):
Since Mohamedia, SOMAS ensures receipt of shipments of all
types of boats, especially butaniers. SOMAS can store up to
110,000 tons of butane in its two salt caverns. A new cavity

with a storage capacity of 80,000 Tons has been established.


Terminal de Nador: 20% owned, the terminal of Nador stores
6000 tons.

MAGHREB GAZ (Bensliman & Assilat): 37.5% owned, this


terminal has a 1,000 ton storage capacity for propane and

2,000 tons for butane.


Depot de stockage de Marrakech: 100% owned by Afriquia
Gas, it has a storage capacity of 1,000 tons of GPL. This
deposit ensures the supply of the region.

Filling stations
o Marrakech: Afriquia gaz has a filling station in Marrakech
which is among the most important of the country. The facility
has a production capacity of 130000 tons per year and a
capacity of storage of 1300 T for butane. For propane, the
production capacity is 2500 T per year and a capacity storage
of 300 T.
o Mohamedia: Created in 1996, its filling capacity for butane is
104 000 tons per year, and its capacity of storage is 650 T. For
propane, it has a filling capacity of 2500 T per year and 100 T
of storage capacity.
o Jorf Lasfar: Created in 1983, its filling capacity for butane is
70 000 tons per year and its capacity storage is 230 T. For
propane, it has a filling capacity of 600 tons per year and its
capacity storage is 100 T.
o Beni Mellal: Established in 1991 its filling capacity is 50 000 T
per year and a storage capacity of 800 T.

KEY DATA:
With a storage capacity of nearly 75,000 T, Afriquia Gas fills in its own
centers and those of its subsidiaries over 800 000 t / year of GPL as well
for its own needs as for those of its collaborator. These filling centers are
supplied by imports through three terminals that are spread across the
country (Agadir, jorf lasfar and Mohammedia).
As part of the new national energy policy that aims to develop the
autonomous supply of the country in energy, the operator conducted a
planned extension to Jorf Lasfer bringing the total GPL storage capacity of
the site to 24,000 T.

With a fleet of nearly 21 million bottles, its distribution network consists of


180 participants spread across the country and distribute approximately 1
Million T of GPL annually with a convoy of over 1300 vehicles trucks.
