Blanket Stitch Tutorial

Teapot

Illustration 1: For each teapot section, the

flower will sit here.

Illustration 3: Add the little green flower

center. Repeat for all 5 sides of the pot.

Illustration 2: With green thread, sew

around the flower petals attaching it to the
pot.

Illustration 4: Place the two handle sections

together, large end to the top and stitch from
the bottom right side to the top right side.

LittleBittyBakery 2009

Illustration 5: Place one of the teapot sides

behind the handle and attach it to the top of
the pot as you stitch across the top of the
handle. The flower should be to the front.

Illustration 7: Stop as you stitch toward the

bottom and stuff the handle.

Illustration 9: Turn to the backside of the

pot and make sure the bottom of the handle
is stitched well.

Illustration 6: Now, stitch down the left side

of the handle to the bottom

Illustration 8: Position the bottom of the

handle to the middle of the pot and about 1
inch from the bottom as shown here. Attach
it to the pot as you stitch up the bottom of
the handle.

Illustration 10: Stitch the sides of the pot

together as shown.

LittleBittyBakery 2009

Illustration 12: Turn the pot over and stitch

the bottom on. Repeat for the top of the pot.

Illustration 11: Stuff the pot well.

Illustration 13: Take the spout piece and

fold it in half with the slanted edges to the
right and shortest end to the top. Stitch
from the top of the right edge down to the
bottom..

Illustration 15: Stitch the spout to the pot

working your way around the bottom of the
spout.

Illustration 14: Place the spout as shown to

the front of the pot. It will sit right on top of
a seam. Pin the spout as shown.

Illustration 16: Take the top of the pot that

is a hexagon and mark it with a pen right in
the middle. Cut 5 slits from the corners
almost to the middle.

LittleBittyBakery 2009

Illustration 17: Sew each of the slits

together from the middle to the outside.

Illustration 18: Taking the pink lid top

piece, run the needle through the outer edge
and gather together to make a little knob.

Illustration 19: Attach the knob to the top

piece of the lid as shown here.

Illustration 20: Place the bottom piece of

the lid in place and stitch the pink edging
around the perimeter of the lid. You will
have one edge of the lid without edging.
Before stitching this edge up, stuff the lid
slightly.

Illustration 21: After stuffing, stitch up the

remaining edge of the lid.

Teacups

Illustration 22: Take the large cup piece and

fold it in half longways, then fold in half
with the cut edges together. Stitch up the cut
edges as shown.

Illustration 24: Turn the cup over. I used

pins to hold the bottom in place as I stitched
the two bottom circles onto the cup.

Illustration 23: Take the two round bottom

pieces and gather the bottom of the cup (the
cut edges) until the opening is about the size
of the bottom piece. Tie off the thread
securely.

Illustration 25: Make sure to catch both of

the bottom pieces as you sew around the
circumference.

LittleBittyBakery 2009

Illustration 26: Take the pink trim piece and

sew it securely to the top of the cup. Begin
and finish at the seam.

Illustration 27: Take the two handle pieces

and stitch the right side up from the bottom
to the top. We will attach this in much the
same way as we attached the handle to the
pot.

Illustration 28: Attach the handle to the cup

at the seam as you stitch across the top.

Illustration 29: Stitch down the left side and

attach the bottom of the handle to the
bottom of the cup.

Illustration 30: Stitch the flower accents

around the petal and as you attach the
center to the flower, attach to the cup handle
as shown.

Illustration 31: Place the cup insert into the

middle of the cup. You can stitch in place if
desired, but I found that it stays just fine.

LittleBittyBakery 2009

Saucers

Illustration 32: Take one of the cup's outer

rings and attach the two flowers positioned
as you see here just as the flowers were
attached on the teapot. Repeat for one more
ring.

Illustration 34: Stitch the center pieces to

the outer ring pieces as shown. You will be
stitching through 4 layer.

Illustration 33: Placing the flowered ring on

top of a plain one, put two of the center
circles in place one on top of the other.

Illustration 35: Finish by sewing the two

outer edges together. Repeat for the other
plate.

LittleBittyBakery 2009

Sugar Dish and Cubes

Illustration 37: Place two of the sides

together and stitch from the top to the
bottom along the open edges. There will be
4 layers. Repeat, sewing the sides together
until you have 3 complete sides sewn.

Illustration 36: Take the side pieces and

fold them in half, straight edges to the
bottom as shown.

Illustration 38: Before sewing the fourth

side into place, attach the 2 flowers on
opposite sides of the pot. Attach them only
to the outer layer of the dish. Once done,
stitch the last side in place. The top of the
dish should have all of the folded edges.

Illustration 39: Put the bottom in place and

stitch securely.

LittleBittyBakery 2009

Illustration 40: Take two of the sugar cube

pieces and place two of them in a "T" as
shown here. Stitch where they come
together with white thread.

Illustration 42: Fold the loose part to the

left and stitch as shown.

Illustration 41: Fold the left top of the "T"

down the side and stitch as shown here.

Illustration 43: Keep folding the loose end

and stitching along the edge and you will
create this little shape. Looks like a chair
without the seat.

Illustration 44: Stuff the cube and sew up. I

finished all the edges for a clean look.
Repeat for the other 2 cubes.

Teabags and Spoon

Illustration 45: Take one of the tea bag

labels and stitch the two little leaves on with
white thread using the accents shown here.

Illustration 47: Place the black "tea" into

the white bag as shown here and fold the
bag up over the tea.

Illustration 46: Repeat for the lemon pieces

on the other tea bag label.

Illustration 48: Take a piece of white thread

and stitch it into the inside of the top of the
bag.

LittleBittyBakery 2009

Illustration 49: Take the other end of the

string and run it through the middle of the
folded label top and tie it off at the desired
length. Repeat process for the other bag.

Illustration 50: With green thread, stitch

around the tea bag closing the sides
together. Leave the bottom unstitched (it is
a folded part)

Illustration 51: Now stitch around the tag

perimeter. Repeat this for the other bag
also.

Illustration 52: Take the two pieces of the

spoon and stitch around the outside with
green thread stopping to stuff the spoon
slightly before stitching all the way up.

Illustration 53: Sew the little pink oval into

the tip of the spoon.
