Southwest Research Institute

SwRI develops portable and hand-held

chemical assay systems for commercial
and government clients. Such systems
can use laser diodes to excite photons or
chemiluminescent reactions after the
sample and reagents are metered and
mixed. The photons can be measured
using a simple optical detector or a
multi-frequency optical detection array.
These systems are often battery-powered
and perform on-board calculations to
return a quantitative or pass/fail result.
