Caribbean Network of Rural Women Producers (CANROP) Training the Trainers Workshop 21 – 26 June, 2010 St. Lucia

NB: Some more for your information! The workshop, under the theme ‘Facilitating Entrepreneurship development for Rural Women in the Caribbean’, seeks to expose rural women producers to policy issues related to food security and issues related to entrepreneurship development. These include value chain and marketing concepts, business development and strategic planning. It also seeks to sharpen skills for building business plans, feasibility studies and market research; and inform on the critical requirements for developing rural women entrepreneurs, including and importantly, the legal aspects of forming a business. This workshop is a follow-up from the IICA-CTA Breeding and Growing Agripreneurs workshop held in St. Lucia in 3-6 March 2008. This collaborative conference will be held under the theme “Coping With Copenhagen: Water, Waste, Energy, and Health”. The 5th Biennial Caribbean Environmental Forum & Exhibition (CEF-5) is the premier sustainable development and environment forum and exhibition in the Caribbean with a regional focus and international attention. This event brings together a wide and diverse cross section of professionals and other persons concerned with or involved in environmental and developmental issues. This year, a new feature will be added to the Caribbean Environmental Forum - the 2010 Youth Environmental Forum. The CEF-5 will be held in conjunction with the 2nd Caribbean Sustainable Energy Forum and the 15th Annual Wider Caribbean Waste Management Conference (ReCaribe), attracting professionals from the various disciplines to share their experiences and knowledge. This Forum seeks to address issues related to climate change in the Caribbean Region. Over the years, the effects of climate change in our region, has seen growing concerns about rising sea levels and marine changes particularly and the threat it poses to Low-lying Caribbean states. One can only wonder if the devastating earthquake in Haiti earlier this year, is an indication of the severity of these changes in our region. The Forum will be hosted by the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and is a collaboration with the “Rainy Season Predicators and Interpretation and Management Workshop hosted by The Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology under the Caribbean Agrometeorological Initiative Project.
