Report on old age home visit

The students of CE, EEE, CSE,EEE and ME departments of MITS, Madanapallealong with
Dr N. Kumaraswamy, Dean RRC and Professor of Civil Engineering, Mr U.Sriniviasulu,
Assistant Professor in ECE department, GSrinivasuluDept. of CSE,Mr. Narayana Pandit, JRF,
ME Dept, Mr S. Shadhik, Programmer in IT section,Mr Venkatesh, AO, RRC, visited
Sri Chowdesari Old Age home located at Vayalpadu, Chittoor district to donate food to all
inmates as part of a tour on practical ethics on 24th July 2016.
The purpose of the visit is to invoke the mind- set of students to realize the hard realities of
life, and to understand the importanceof elderly people in ones life and to know the joy of
serving and being with them.
This old age home was established on 17-10-2010 by Sri GV Ramana, Junior Assistant,
APRJC Minority Girls Junior College,Vaylapaduwith 7 members with his own resources.
Now, the inmates have been increased to 30 members with age from 60 to 75 years. The
inmates are very amicable and they welcomed the students whole heartedly. Later the
students talked with the inmates to know their stories. First they showed reluctance to tell
their stories later, some of them shared their agony which stunned the students. Almost all the
inmates of this old age home have their families but due to regular neglect by their children
they haveopted to live in this old age home.At 1 PM students served the food to inmates of
old age home as a token of love and affection towards them. Later students had their
lunchwith faculty members along with few volunteers.
At 3 PM, all faculty members and students gathered in the Prayer Room with old age
people.Kumari G Malleswari in charge and volunteer of old age home gave brief orientation
about the history and the mission the of the old home.The old age people shared their life
experiences and showered their blessings on all students. Laterstudents shared their feelings
and
opinions
about this
visit and
their
future plans
about social
services. Dr N. kumaraswamy, Dean explained the importanceof human relationship and
values in human life. He advised the students to help needy people wherever and whenever
opportunities arise. This event left undeniable impressions on the students.
