Adefioye Sunday Adewumi is the Founder/Managing Director of
Sadaxx Systems, Ile Ife, Osun State. He graduated with a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Geography from the Obafemi Awolowo
University, Ile Ife, Nigeria. He developed interest in Applied
Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS)
during his second year at the University. He earned a Diploma
Degree in Computer Science and Technology in 2004 and also took
courses in computer programming and database management and
He has applied GIS and Remote Sensing to several independent and collaborative
research works which includes Geospatial Analysis of Wetland Areas in Ile Ife, Nigeria:
Imperative for Sustainable Urbanization published in the Nigerian Geographical Journal
(NGJ), 2012 and Analysis of Land Use/Land Cover Changes along River Benue Channel in
Adamawa State, Nigeria.
Adefioye Sunday A. is well recognized for the development and donation of GeoTools
version 1.0.0 (software he developed for geographic data management, coordinates
transformation and basic geographic navigation) to reputable centres and University in
Nigeria. In 2012, he received commendations from centres such as the African Regional
Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in English (ARCSSTEE) affiliated to
United Nations; Regional Centre for Training in Aerospace Surveys (RECTAS) under the
auspices of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA); and the
Department of Geography, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Nigeria. He received an
Award of Excellence in Learning and Culture and as one of Distinguished Alumni of the
Department of Geography, Obafemi Awolowo University in November 2012.
His insight for indigenous capacity building and positive knowledge transfer for
geospatial technology applications and development in Nigeria led to his authorship of
papers such as Computing and Computer Programming for Geospatial Research and
Applications in Nigeria published and presented at the Joint Conference of the
GeoInformation Society of Nigeria (GEOSON) and National Cartography Association (NCA)
held in RECTAS, Nigeria, Nov 2012; and Indigenous Geo-Software Development as an
Imperative for Sustainable Geospatial and Space Technology Development in Nigeria
presented at the First Regional Conference on Remote Sensing and GIS Applications held at
Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State, Nigeria in May 2013. He developed the Shape
Concept in 2012 to illustrate the need for indigenous capacity building for reliable and
sustainable technological development in Nigeria and other developing countries.
