PART A: Describe how students could create and publish an original movie, audio file, podcast, or vodcast in order to achieve
required learning standards. Challenge: For an A provide an idea where the learning activity reaches a LoTi level 4a or
above. To do this you will have to design a project where students engage in higher-order thinking and publish their work to an
audience that will use or care about the results. Broad feedback for their work is also a great way to boost interest and
performance.

Brief Description of Learning Experience: As you address the standards, what will students and teachers do? How will
the project be introduced? How long will it take to complete? What audience will use/care about the multimedia projects
students are creating? How broad is this audience? How will student work be assessed and by whom? Who will provide
feedback to students about their work? (Overview should be approximately 1-2 paragraphs)
This video of Benjamin Franklins life and his works and inventions he created throughout his life will be a fun but educational
way when we are talking about Benjamin Franklin for the lesson plan. It gives a break for the teacher talking and lecturing, and
for the students because they are watching pictures and reading fun facts about his life while listening to music in the
background. This video is a basic video, the only thing that puts it in the 1st-3rd audience is the video clip from Discovery
Education because it is a cartoon for ages K-2. If that small clip was not in the video, it could go up to K-12 audience group. It is
about a 3-5 minute video clip. After the students watch the video, there could be a sheet of inventions (T.V. Telephone, Glasses,
etc.), for K-1 grades, and the students have to circle all the inventions that Benjamin Franklin created. The teacher will then
collect the papers and it is graded for that lesson.

Student Engagement/Higher-Order Thinking: What LoTi level would this lesson be and Why?
It would be a LoTi level 2 or 3 because the video is created by the teacher and not just a short video clip from a movie, but
was actually thought out and created. The students are using their higher order thinking skills focusing on the content of
the video.

Importance of technology: Why is using a multimedia authoring tools critical to the project? Could the project be
completed without this technology? What would be lost without using it? What other types of technology, if any, are
going to be used in the learning experience?
Using this multimedia tool is critical because it is easy to use and you couldnt get the personalization/creativeness that you will
get by creating your own video and editing it and adding music. It would be very hard to complete this project to the standard
that it needs to be to reach that hi LoTi and to get the attention of the students.
Inspiration (optional): If you used existing multimedia projects as a model for your project (whether in part or whole),
include the URL(s) so we can visit. Explain what concepts you borrowed from others.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: Briefly discuss some possible issues surrounding internet safety and student
privacy that could arise while implementing this learning experience and explain how youd minimize risks to
students/yourself, alleviate any fears by parents/administrators, and follow school districts Internet Safety/Use Policy.
If uploading any students work on the video, then the students full name, grade level, etc., cannot be on the video. Only the first
name and the last initial can be used if the teacher wants to credit the students. If using pictures from online, like Google, then the
pictures need to follow the copyright usage laws. Before creating and uploading the video with students work, you have to send
out to the parents an approval letter for loading their childs work online. They have to sign off on this paper to upload their
students work to any online website or tool.
