The plan should guide the LEAs use of education technology for the next three
years.

CURRICULUM COMPONENT CRITERIA.
The Plan must establish clear goals and realistic strategy for using
telecommunications and information technology to improve education services.

Describe teachers' current access to instructional technology and current use of


digital tools.
1. What technology is currently available to all teachers?
All instructional staff, administrators, libraries, and computer labs are equipped
with desktop computers running either Windows XP or Windows 7. All
instructional staff have been assigned a ChromeBook and have been trained on
using the Chrome operating system and Google Drive in the classroom for
collaboration with students. All classrooms are equipped with a document
camera and interactive projector. All math classrooms have Smart Boards.

Describe students' current access to instructional technology and current use of


digital tools. Include a description about the LEA policy, practices, and/or
replacement policy that ensures equitable technology access for all students.
1. What is students' current access to instructional technology and
current use of digital tools?
All middle and high school students, grades 6-12, have been issued a Google

ChromeBook with access to cloud printers. All middle and high school students
have been provided a Google Drive account for collaboration with teachers.
Students also have cloud storage for file storage and home access. Every
campus has a computer lab for student use as well as student printers. Every
elementary grade level has a computer class. High school students have
electives such as programming, BCIS, and multimedia.
2. What replacement cycle has been built into the plan, and what
funding is needed to support the replacement policy?
Based on the school districts inventory, all computers older than 5 years will be
replaced with new computers. The middle and high school campuses have
loaner Chrome Books in case of emergency. Broken Chrome Books will be
returned to fix the problem/damage. In this case, the student will use a loaner.
The budget for this objective is $75,000.

Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, for using
technology to improve teaching and learning. Describe how these goals align to
the LEA's curricular goals that are supported by other plans. Describe how the
LEA's budget (LCAP) supports these goals, and whether future funding
proposals or partnerships may be needed for successful implementation.
1. How will technology be used to create more powerful learning
experiences to improve student academic achievement?
All students will create online ePortfolios to showcase their work. Students will
carry their electronic documents throughout each grade level. Students will be
able to use their ePortfolio past high school graduation into college and the
workforce. Students will use Video Conferencing systems for video
conferencing, electronic field trips, and dual-credit classes for high school
students.
2. How does the LEAs budget support this use of technology?
The district will provide every teacher with the appropriate training for ePortfolios.
Training will be refreshed and updated yearly. The district has allocated $65,000.
for dual credit tuition and fees.

Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, to address


Internet Safety and the appropriate and ethical use of technology in the
classroom.
1. How will students be educated and trained on internet safety?

All students will attend an internet safety and acceptable use policies class prior
to receiving a ChromeBook. All instructional staff will reinforce safety policies
throughout the school year. Every campus will host a public speaker on internet
safety, cyber bullying, social media and chatrooms. Information will be age
appropriate for each campus, etc..
2. How will parents be educated and trained on internet safety?
A parent or guardian of every child must also attend training on campus or via
online instructional video on internet safety and acceptable use policies before
his/her child receives a ChromeBook. Parents will be invited to attend the public
speaking event at his/her childs campus. There will also be a speaking event for
parents in the evening that will cover internet safety, cyber bullying, social media
and chatrooms, etc..
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMPONENT
The Plan must have a professional development strategy to ensure that staff
understands how to use these new technologies to improve education services
(Answer at least 2 questions for each subsection below)

Summary of the teachers' and administrators' current technology proficiency and


integration skills and needs for professional development.
1. How does LEA regularly assess teachers and administrators
personal technology proficiency skills?
Proficiency skills will be determined based on results from Texas STAR Chart
submission and informal surveys from every staff member.
2. What do teachers and administrators consider as their needs for
professional development?
The topics for professional development include Google Drive, Google ChromeBook,
Google Forms, and document sharing.

Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, for providing
professional development opportunities based on your LEA needs assessment
data and the Curriculum Component of the plan.
1. How will teachers and administrators be trained and provided
ongoing support in the effective integration of technology into
curriculum?
The district will employ an IT manager who will conduct technology training on
every campus. The IT manager will also reserve time for one-on-one and/or small
group training with teachers in their classrooms. Each campus will have a budget
for outside professional development.

1. What professional learning will be available so teachers and


administrators can make informed decisions using data to meet
individual student academic needs?
An online testing system will be used to collect and analyze student data.
INFRASTRUCTURE, HARDWARE, TECHNICAL SUPPORT, SOFTWARE, AND
ASSET MANAGEMENT COMPONENT CRITERIA
The Plan must include an assessment of the telecommunication services,
hardware, software, asset management, and other services that will be needed to
improve education services.

Describe the existing hardware, Internet access, electronic learning resources,


technical support, and asset management already in the LEA that will be used to
support the Curriculum and Professional Development Components of the plan.
1. What hardware/infrastructure currently exists at each school site?
Each school site has Google Drive storage. All campuses have fiber optic
connections. All staff have network copiers for printing documents. VOIP phone
system and a phone in every classroom.
1. What technologies are available to facilitate home/school
communication such as email, web pages, and voice mail?
There is a district website and each campus has a website. Online gradebook
allows parents to access childs grade. Video streaming, electronic newsletters,
social media, Smartphone App, surveys
Describe the technology hardware, electronic learning resources, networking and
telecommunications infrastructure, physical plant modifications, technical
support, and asset management needed by the LEA's teachers, students, and
administrators to support the activities in the Curriculum and Professional
Development components of the plan.
1. Where will the technology be placed to effectively support the
curriculum and Professional development components?
Each campus will receive computer no older than five years old. Outdated projectors
will be replaced. Smart Boards are currently in every math classroom. As funds are
available, science classrooms will begin receiving Smart Boards.
2. What emerging technologies could be used to implement the plans
goals?
Google Drive Storage for easy accessibility for staff and students

MONITORING AND EVALUATION COMPONENT


The plan must include an evaluation process that enables the school to monitor
progress toward the specific goals and make mid-course corrections in response
to new developments and opportunities as they arise.

Describe the process for evaluating the plan's overall progress and impact on
teaching and learning.
1. How will the LEA know whether implementation of this plan has made a
positive impact on teaching and learning?
Weekly walk-throughs, formal evaluations, lesson plans. Monitor student learning via
ePortfolios.
2. Who will participate in the monitoring and evaluation process?
Campus principals and assistant principals, IT manager, Director if Technology

Describe the schedule for evaluating the effect of plan implementation, including
a description of the process and frequency of communicating evaluation results
to tech plan stakeholders.
1. How often will data be collected and summarized? Who is
responsible?
Data will be collected at the campus level twice per school year (at the end of each
semester). District data will also be calculated twice per school year.
2. How often will the status of plan implementation be reported to the
LEA superintendent and the stakeholders?
Status of plan implementation will be reported to the superintendent yearly.
