Coffee grinder

4.4.1.

Mode of operation

The coffee grinder (grinding unit) comprises:

2
3

1 screw
2 Socket
3 Rubber buffer
4 Grinding mechanism adjusting disc
5 Retaining ring for top grinding mechanism
6 Upper grinding ring
7 Grinder motor with bottom grinding
mechanism

The grinding mechanism consists of two parts: the grinding ring and the grinding cone.
The spacing between grinding ring and grinding cone defines whether the coffee is ground
finely or coarsely.
The grinding mechanism produces the coffee grounds which are then fed into the brewing
unit via a chute.

R
Specifying the machine sides for right (R) and
left (L) grinder.

TD-100343.doc
Downloaded from www.Manualslib.com manuals search engine

26

4.4.2.

Setting the grinding degree of the grinding mechanisms

The coffee machine is shipped with the grinding mechanisms ideally set for <<medium>>
grinding. The grinding mechanisms are set manually using the setting ring and only when
the coffee grinder is running. A single notch setting for finer or coarser can have a big
impact on the amount of ground coffee, so always adjust one notch at a time only. The
settings take effect once six cups of coffee have been dispensed. Each grinder must be
adjusted separately.
- Turn the setting ring to the right for finer
grinding
- to the left for coarser grinding

4.4.3.

Setting the amount of ground coffee

The amount of ground coffee is set using the customised programme or the Terminal3000.
(see setting product keys, page 64)
The amount of ground coffee for grinders R and L should be set:

when the coffee machine is first installed

every time a grinder is changed,

every time the coffee type is changed,

every time the grind coarseness is adjusted

Grinder R

Grinder L

The correction is activated with each coffee and

adjusts the maximum possible grinding time after
each coffee.
The minimum grinding time is 4 s; the maximum 9.2 s

The correction is activated with each coffee and

adjusts the maximum possible grinding time after
each coffee.
The minimum grinding time is 4 s; the maximum 9.2 s

Grinder R & L (mix from both grinders)

The maximum possible grinding time for a mix is calculated from both grinding corrections of grinder R and L.
The percentage distribution of the customer's setting is taken into account. A recalculation is not carried out
after a mix.
A mix cannot affect the grinding correction of grinder R or L.
A separate minimum grinding time of 5 s is used for the mix. (because the compensation for the startup times
of two grinders is greater than for one grinder.)

4.4.4. Grinding correction

Automatic correction prevents the brewing chamber from overfilling. It is activated after 8
cups of coffee have been dispensed; then, with each coffee dispensed, the volume is
compared and greatly reduced in the event of overfilling. If the volume is too small, it is
corrected upwards in small steps.
The grinding correction is deactivated in the case of a mix (from grinding mechanisms R
and L simultaneously).

4.4.5.

Replacing a grinder
Removing the grinder

The grinding mechanism of the grinding

unit cannot be replaced as the grinding
ring and grinding cone are adapted to each
other. The entire grinding unit must
therefore be replaced.

Replace the grinding unit if the grinding

mechanism has become blunt.

To replace the grinding unit for

Encoder

4.6.1.

Mode of operation

Mechanically, the encoder is directly connected with the geared motor of the brewing unit.

Flowmeter

4.7.1.

Mode of operation

Flowing water turns the impeller (rotor) running on the middle axle of the white plastic
flowmeter. The flowmeter are located on the right side of machine, under the tank base.
The two magnets fitted to the rotor send signals which allow a reed contact to count the
number of revolutions. The pulses generated are transmitted to the control system. This
allows the amounts of coffee or hot water to be dispensed in ml (millilitres).

The identification number (Diagnosis No.) cannot be changed. This is firmly embedded in
the Terminal3000. The number is written into the service stamp. The following criteria must
be met in order to write a service stamp:
date

> 0.0.1990

There are 2 service stamps. The Terminal3000 overwrites the penultimate service stamp in
each case. This means that the last 2 service stamps are always present in the machine.
The service counter is written into the address of work code 6 and cleared.
After successful writing of the service stamp, the history bits are deleted.

Before installation is implemented, the coffee machine must be

disconnected from the mains.
Danger of accidents!

Caution:
When an Inkasso3 is put into operation, the protocol converter is not switched on. It is therefore
necessary to supply a new display and print keyboard with every Inkasso3 Print that is sold as a
protocol converter. These must be mounted on the installation frames provided.
The on-site engineer can then do any adjustments that are necessary. Relevant adjustments:
These can be found in the documentation for the Inkasso3 "Dokumentation-Inkasso3.pdf".

Franke Kaffeemaschinen AG

Introduction
Inkasso3 is used by the Franke Kaffeemaschinen AG as an interface between the coffee
machine and the settlement device. Communication is via the CCI protocol. An exception is the
Saphira/Flair, for which the Saphira/Flair-Inkasso-Protokoll F700 is used for communication.
It can also serve as a protocol converter for the CCI and F700 protocols and the widely used
MDB protocol.
This enables you to manage and settle accounts for all product prices. Various counter functions
that provide correct settlement accounting are also integrated.
The most commonly used settlement devices can be connected to the collection system and
include the chip card system from Franke (CASH and FREE), coin checker CF330, MDB coin
1

changer (CF690) and MDB card reader (CASH terminal , U-key, EVIS, and similar).
These instructions give detailed explanations of all of the functions that can be set in the various
menus.

Timeout
This menu item determines the timeout that can be set on some machine types.
We make a distinction between two different types:
-

F700 protocol (Saphira/Flair)

If the coffee machine is set to Saphira or Flair (F700), it is the Saphira/Flair timeout. The user

can set the same timeout as on the Saphira/Flair; the collection system automatically uses
300 [ms] less to understand the signal just to be on the safe side.
-

Timeout Saphira/Flair

CCI protocol (Evolution/Sinfonia etc.)

0 .. 125 [s]

The TOPS timeout is configurable on the Inkasso3. If the coffee machine is set to CCI, then this
is the timeout for the validity of a preselected product. Please refer also to Section 2.3.1.

Generate factory settings card (factory parameters)

You generate factory settings cards to make it easy to update existing Flairs (on customer
premises) with the most recent factory settings. These cards can be given to authorised
employees who then copy over the parameters to the Flair by means of a Terminal 3000.
For this you need two parameter cards. One for 654 DI and one for 654 MA.

Diagnostic
During diagnosis, data such as production data, product data, and service data is read from the
Flair. There are two ways to get the data from the Flair in order to import it into the coffee
machine service system as diagnostic documents:
1. Direct connection to the Flair with Franke Service Animation.

2. Via Terminal 3000.

Both variants are described below. It is important when working on the Flair to perform one of
the two diagnostic variants.
Diagnosis with Franke Service Animation
Start up Franke Service Animation as described in section Starting Franke Service Animation.
There are two kinds of diagnoses: Entry diagnosis and Exit diagnosis.
Important:

Both diagnoses (Entry and Exit) must be performed; if not, the diagnosis
document cannot be created.

Warning:

The bean containers have to be empty for the Complete Entry diagnosis
and the Exit diagnosis so that the bean sensor tests can be carried out.

Entry diagnosis

Before carrying out service work or commissioning the Flair, an Entry diagnosis first has to be
performed. The Entry diagnosis is a defined procedure as outlined below.
Read out data (production, statistical, service and customer data).
Save the latest factory settings.
Statistical diagnosis (statements based on the read out data).
Dynamic diagnosis.
Configuration of the entry diagnosis
Select Configuration of the entry diagnosis in the Execute individual test menu.
The following window appears.

After you have selected the Entry diagnosis, it can be started using the corresponding icon.
Short diagnosis
The following steps are performed when the short Entry diagnosis is selected:
Read out data (production, statistical, service and customer data) Complete
Save the latest factory settings
Complete
Statistical diagnosis (statements based on the read out data)
Complete
The short Entry diagnosis runs automatically. You are not required to do anything. Once it is
completed, a printable status report appears.
Now the errors output to the status report can be remedied. In the case of a new assembly, you
can begin right away with the Exit diagnosis.

Once you have started the Entry diagnosis, follow the instructions below. You will be prompted
to do certain things on the Flair. Should an error message appear, repeat the test. To ensure
that the test has been properly carried out. If an error message appears again, stop the test.
You then go to the next test.
The status report appears when the diagnosis is completed. You can print it or save it as a text
file on your computer.
Now the errors output to the status report can be remedied. In the case of a new assembly, you
can begin right away with the Exit diagnosis.

Exit diagnosis

The Exit diagnosis has the same procedure as the complete Entry diagnosis. The procedure
follows the scheme below.
The customer data from the Entry diagnosis is saved in the machine (production, statistical,
service and customer data).
Dynamic diagnosis.
Enter service stamp via the entry mask.
The Exit diagnosis can be ended only if no errors have occurred.
Once you have started the Exit diagnosis, follow the instructions below. You will be prompted to
do certain things on the Flair. Should an error message appear, repeat the test to ensure that
the test has been properly carried out. If you continue with the test despite an error message,
the service stamp entry cannot be made and thus no diagnosis document can be created.

Franke Kaffeemaschinen AG

After all tests have been successfully performed, the service stamp mask appears.
The service stamp serves to save the performed work and detected errors in the Flair. Thus,
the next time the machine is serviced the data (history) is available.
The service stamp is created in the entry mask shown below.
A maximum of two service stamps are saved in the Flair. If service has been performed more
than twice on the Flair, the older service stamp is always overwritten.

The error codes and work codes are described in the appendix.
Replace logical print board
If new electronics (logical print board) have been installed, you are prompted to enter the
appliance code. The procedure follows the scheme below.

The appliance code is requested; see the Entry diagnosis for the device code. If no Entry
diagnosis was performed, press Continue four times. A device number and production date
are automatically entered.
The customer data from the Entry diagnosis is saved back to the machine (production,
statistical, service and customer data).
Dynamic diagnosis.
Enter the service stamp using the entry mask (error code 505 / work code 673).
