Materials
Smartboard with internet for Prezi
22 sunflower painting printouts
Cardstock Paper
Fingerpaint or regular paint with paint brushes
Painters Tape or Masking Tape
Plastic plate to blend on
Organization: set out scissors for every student, masking tape that is cut in half to be thinner,
paint supplies (brush paint or finger paint) and cardstock paper for every student

Ask students what they think about Impressionism, how do the paintings
make them feel, do they like this style of artwork?
Ask questions about what was learned?

Have students come to the front and grab supplies

Step 1:
Have students make the two horizontal parts of the bridge with the tape
-point out where this is on the Monet art that is already up
-make sure students know that there can be some overhang on the outside
of the paper (will be used to peel off the tape later)

Step 2:
Have students make the vertical columns on the Japanese bridge
-point out where this is on the Monet art that is already up

Step 3:
Have students use finger nail to make sure that the tape is on the paper
completely
-explain the importance of this
-walk around to check that all students have made a tape bridge that is

firmly on the paper


-have students write their name on the back of their papers
Step 4:
Provide students with bright paint colors on their individual paper plates
-explain blending of colors to students
-allow them to blend colors together on their plates

Step 5.
Using fingers have students dab the paper
-make sure they know that they can also dab the bridge
-students should try to have covered the entire paper
-encourage the use of a variety of different colors

Have students place art in safe location

Step 7:
Once 100% sure that the paint has dried students can SLOWLY and
CAREFULLY remove the tape on their artwork
Review Impressionism characteristics:

-a quick glimpse of it
-a lot of color
-outdoor
-bright and vibrant
-looks kind of unfinished
