Title: Phytochemical Screening and Antimicrobial Activities of Methanolic and Hexanoic Extract
of Diospyros blancoi Leaf Towards Selected Gram Negative and Gram Positive Bacteria
Give a summary of what you did in the past four weeks. Provide data sample or results shown
in your FYP laboratory log book.

Few days later, the stored extract of methanol and hexane was concentrated using rotary
evaporator the concentrated form of the extract was subjected for oven drying to get the net
weight of crude extract. Every day, the extract was weighed to determine the constant weight.
The constant weight indicates that all the solvent from the extract have been dissipate. The
complete dissipation of solvent determined the dry net weight of the solvent. The net weight
obtained is as follow which is 40.52 and 5.85 grams for methanol and hexane respectively.
After the net weight obtained, the crude was subjected for screening for the detection of alkaloid
the precipitation doesnt form for methanol but creamy-like solution was formed for hexane
extract. For the flavonoid, both extract is immiscible it is hard to determine whether the test is
valid or not. The tannin extract of methanol appears to be blue black and it indicates the
presence of tannin whereas the hexane extract is remained unchanged. As for the terpenoids,
the result is somewhat confusing since both result is different from what was described from
journal. The last one is the saponin, the methanol extract seems to be absent and the hexane of
