Infant, Toddler & Preschool

Welcome to Kelseys Angels Childcare. Our goal is to make you and your child feel comfortable
with the transition of coming into care when the parents need to work or go to school. Our number
one priority is to work together with the parents, to raise up the best child we can together. We
provide high quality care with an at home environment. We strive to make your child feel loved
and secure in their new surroundings while working with them both developmentally, as well as
academically as they get older. The following guide is for you to keep on hand, to refer to when
the need arises. You will find helpful information on fees and payment options, schedules, and
different policies.

HOURS:
We are open from 5:30 AM to 6:30 PM Monday through Friday. Unless otherwise agreed by
parent and provider. Written contract will be signed
We are closed the following holidays: New years Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor
Day, Thanksgiving and the following Friday, and the following dates for Christmas: Dec.
22, 23, 24 ,25, & 26 & 27. An additional week of vacation time will taken during the year with
a minimum of a months notice. These dates are subject to change and adequate notice
will be given in the event of any and all changes.

FEE SCHEDULE:
We have chosen to go with flat monthly rates to insure that you always know what your bill
is going to be, as well as I have a dependable income to support my family and business.
Rates are determined on your hours needed during the week. Rates are as follows:
00-15 hours per week- $250.00 per child each month
16-25 hours per week- $350.00 per child each month
26+ hours per week- $450.00 per child each month
Before and After School (1ST AND UP) -$250.00 per child with no change on Holidays
Summer is increased to $350.00 per month per child
Rates include all Field Trips, Art Projects, Crafts, Food for your child/ren. All fees require
prepayment for each months care. Rates are also there to enforce your spot here in daycare,
therefore there will be no reimbursement for childcare if your child is sick or you choose to take a

random day off here and there.

I will prorate your bill for a total of 5 vacation days a calendar year, you can choose to break that
up or take it all at once. I will also prorate you bill for my Vacation days when they come about. I
usually take my weeks vacation in the Summer time.
Parents of children who have not been picked up by their contracted time, will be charged a fee
of $10.00 for every 10 minutes left in care, per child. Likewise, for children that are dropped off
before their contracted time, there will be a fee of $10.00 for every 10 minutes, per child, that
they are in care. All fees are non refundable and non-negotiable, and will be billed on the next
monthly billing statement.
All fees are due and payable on the 1st and 15th of the month and are considered late as of
closing on the 4th and 19th. A late fee of $25.00 will be applied as of the 5th and 20th of each
month. For each day after the closing of the 5th and 20th, we will impose an additional $5.00 fee
per day. Please understand that I budget around a guaranteed and predictable paycheck.
Therefore late fees are non-negotiable.
Failure to pay all fees by closing of the 5th and or 20th of each month will result in immediate
suspension of child care services. Late fees will be compounded each day that your
child care is suspended. Child care will be reinstated once all fees are paid and current.
Failure to pay all fees by closing of the 10th and or 25th of the month will result in immediate
termination of all child care. Termination of childcare requires immediate payment for all
services rendered, and is to include the daily rate for the required two week written notice per
child in care.

FINE PRINT:
The following forms must be on file the first day of enrollment:
Contract
Child Enrollment Form
Emergency Consent, Water Release, Travel Release
Certificate of Immunization Status
Payment for the month of care
The provider will only allow authorized persons to pick up the child from care. Authorized persons
may be called to pick up children if parents or guardians are late, can not be reached when

child is sick or when the provider is unable to continue care. Authorized persons need to be
listed on your childs enrollment form. Please tell me in person when someone else will be
picking up your child. Picture ID will be required for the first time an authorized person comes
to pick your child up. Your child will not be released unless they have picture ID.
NO EXEPTIONS WILL BE MADE FOR THE SAFETY OF YOUR CHILDREN.
Both Parties will give a two week written notice of intention to terminate the child care contract.
Daily rates for care will be charged regardless if the entire two weeks is used. (I.e. If you give
a two weeks notice and only use 5 days out of the scheduled 10 -- you will still be charged for
the additional 5 days that werent used for care.)
The Provider will give a months notice for all vacation time taken. There will be NO CHARGE
during the time the provider is on vacation or is in need of taking a personal day for
appointments, sick children, ect.
The Parent will give a months notice for all vacation time taken. With a one months written
notice, there will be NO CHARGE for vacation time up to 1 week per year. Vacation time that
exceeds 1 week per year, will be charged the contracted rate due to reserving your childs
space. Less than a months notice will result in fees being charged as normal since we are
reserving your childs space and I need to know my schedule in advance.
The Provider will give a written Invoice/Receipt each and every billing cycle, as well as a tax
statement at the end of the calendar year.
An annual cost of living increase will go into effect each spring. The Provider will give at least one
months notice of intent to increase the hourly, daily and or monthly rates. The Parent and
Provider will sign a new contract indicating the new rates.
The provider will assist in potty training when initiated and followed through by the parents. Pullups or some kind of disposable training pants must be used during potty training for sanitary
purposes.
Parents will notify the provider as soon as possible in the event that they are going to be late in
picking up their children. Phone call will prevent provider from calling the next authorized
person to pick up your child. This does not effect the late fee policy ~~ all fees will still be
charged as outlined in this handbook and the contract.

COMMON COURTESY :
Please be here before your contracted pick-up time if you have something to discuss, paperwork
to fill out, etc. This is so I can fulfill, on time, the needs of my family and other commitments
that I have made (doctors apts., errands, kids activities, ect). I schedule my personal activities
around your contracted hours, so please keep this in mind when you consider schedule
changes, dropping your child off early and or picking your child up late. Of course if there is an

unavoidable and or emergency situation that occurs, I will try to be as accommodating as

possible. However, it would be appreciated if you resisted the temptation to go to the bank, do
your grocery shopping, pick up dinner, ect, when en-route to either drop off and or pick up your
child.
It is very normal that children forget about the daycare rules when their parents come around.
They also tend to act without respect to see who will say something first. Please use your
parental authority when you are present. This way you can help show your child that you
respect my rules, my property, and me.
It is always a good idea to have a back up provider available for your use in the event that I am
unavailable for care on a given day. This is also necessary in the event that you may need
additional hours and or days and I am unable to accommodate your needs due to scheduling
conflicts within the daycare.
I will try to be specific concerning your childs needs as well as my needs, the daycare needs, and
or scheduling. I communicate more efficiently through written notices and or updates within
the parent handbook. Therefore, monthly newsletters, event calendars, and or changes will be
handed out at the beginning of each month. I will give at least a months notice of all changes
as well as review all contracts, forms, and files concerning your child twice a year, as these
may need updating regularly.
During the transition time that goes along with being at a new daycare and with a new provider, it
is normal for both the child and parents to feel anxiety. However, as a team, it will help if we
work together to make the transition as smooth as possible, while ensuring that your child feels
secure. Some good-byes arent easy, however, one of the ways that you as the parent can
help is for you act calmly and confidently. Your child will accept those feelings and settle easily
after you have gone. If you keep returning for one more hug, you may transmit feelings of
uncertainty and your child will respond accordingly. I encourage parents to spend a few
minutes with their child when they are dropping them off, however, for your childs comfort
level, please limit the good-byes to a few minutes. Always make sure that your child knows
that you are leaving, but will return later on. Making the morning visits short allows your child to
jump right into the daily activities and most children will settle into a routine fairly quickly.

ACTIVITIES:

We try to offer a balanced routine that includes each childs interest as they grow in their

development.
We work with our infants in their motor skill development, both in finger play and floor exercises.
Throughout the day we rotate our babies between different items such as swings, baby bouncers
and walkers to give them a variety in their daily routine.
Our schedule includes reading, music, free playtime, game time, nap time, and snacks for our
older babies and toddlers. A monthly event calendar that outlines all of the activities for the month
will be available and handed out at the beginning of each month. Each season our daily schedule
changes slightly to accommodate the different types of weather. This quarterly schedule is
available in print.
Our preschoolers have the option of doing arts and crafts sessions throughout the week. Also, we
try to work with them in preschool workbooks that help define their fine motor skills such as
cutting, gluing and coloring. We encourage them to explore numbers, colors, the alphabet, and
shapes.
Our current favorite activities include:
Show and Tell during Circle Time -- we encourage the little ones to bring a favorite
item from home to share with their friends
Dancing to music -- we encourage the kids to bring in music that
like so they can share with their friends
Building with Legos
Painting
Playing with Play dough
Seasonal Crafts
Coloring
Playing Dress up
Participating in weekly themes
All children have the opportunity to take part in field trips. Parents are encouraged to come on the
field trips to participate with their children and enjoy the various activities. Some of the most
recent field trips have been:
Pumpkin Patch
Picnics at the Park
Chuck E Cheeses
The Oregon Zoo
AC Gilbert House
Library for story time
EZ Orchards

MEALS:

I will provide a nutritious breakfast lunch and two snacks each day. Morning snack is at 9:30,
Lunch is at 11:45, and Afternoon snack is at 3:15. Please refrain from sending half eaten
breakfast, gum or candy in the morning- this could potentially lead to problems with other children
becoming jealous. All children will drink at the table only and will not be allowed to carry cups of
any kind around the house or at naptime unless we are outside. Every child is fed the same items,
if they do not like one of the items they will not be forced to eat it, but encouraged to try just one
bite. If a child would like seconds they must first eat all of what was given to them then seconds
will be provided. I try to serve foods that children like and will eat but have nutritional value as well.
I can not please every child every day when it comes to foods, but if I see the group as a whole
dislikes an item, I will no longer serve it. Children that choose not to eat at meal time will not be
served again until the next scheduled time. Children occasionally help prepare snacks and lunch,
this helps encourage good eating habits. Please refer to the food and dietary guidelines on the
next pages for ideas and guidelines on what is acceptable and or appropriate for each age group.
While your child is an infant, we feed on demand until they can adjust to a routine. Once they
start making that adjustment and grow into toddler hood, we try to get them on a regular meal
schedule. We find this to be helpful for both the center and your child. Not only does this offer
your child a sense of security in knowing what will be next, but also allows us to attend to each
childs needs.
If your child is on a special diet due to allergies and or your preference, please let me know as
soon as possible. We will do our best to accommodate and help you with your childs diet. If your
preference is for your child to have soy or rice milk ect, it will be your responsibility to supply that
item daily.
Due to food allergies, it isnt a good idea to offer babies under the age of 1yr. cows milk,
peanuts, or orange juice. Never offer a child under the age of 1 yr. honey due to the
choking hazard that it presents.

HEALTH PROCEDURES:
WE ADHERE TO ALL STATE REGULATIONS ON ILLNESSES!
All children will be removed from care if they do not appear well enough to participate in
the activities as usual.
All children will be removed from care who are overly cranky due to lack of sleep the night
before. Please keep your child at home if he/she hasnt slept the night before.

All children will be removed from care if they have any of the following symptoms, and/or
are demonstrating any of the following behavior:
Fever AND --- sore throat, rash, vomiting, diarrhea, earache, irritability, or confusion.
(Fever is defined as having a temperature of 100 F or higher taken under the arm,
101 F taken orally, or 102 f taken rectally. For children 4 months or younger, the
lower rectal temperature of 101 F is considered a fever.)
Diarrhea --- runny, watery, or bloody stool
Vomiting
Sore throat with a fever and or swollen glands
Severe coughing -- child gets red or blue in the face or makes a high-pitched whooping
sound after coughing
Eye Discharge -- thick mucus or pus draining from the eye, or pink eye (Exceptions will be
made for infants with clogged tear ducts)
Yellowish skin or eyes
A noticeable discolored runny nose -- this includes cloudy to dark green
The child has been diagnosed with a contagious viral infection and or rash
Children are required to be removed from care if they are irritable, continuously crying,
or if they require more attention than I can provide without hurting the health and
safety of the other children in care.
If for any reason your are suspicious of your childs health, please contact your physician and then
contact the center.
After illness, children must be free from any diarrhea, vomiting, or fever for at least 24
hours before returning to the center. Always notify the center if your child has been
exposed to any contagious diseases.
We will gladly work with your child if he/she needs any medication throughout the day.
If medication needs to be administered, there will be a written notice of time and dosage each
time. You will find this on the My Day Forms we supply each day, or when your child gets older
on a medication form. This includes teething gel, Tylenol for teething, gas drops ect.

SEPARATION ANXIETY:
Most children, and parents too, go through separation anxiety. We understand how difficult it is for
the parent and child to separate so we try to make it as easy as possible. In the following pages
there are questionnaires to help us know how to best comfort your child. Please fill them out as
completely as possible so that we can help during this transition period.
Another way that you can help your child transition is to schedule a couple of times for both you
and your child to visit with the provider in the center before their start date. This will help both the
child and provider to become more acquainted with each other and aid in your child becoming
confident.
The parents are welcome to come and visit with their child at any time. Lunch time seems to be
the favorite of both the children and the parents. Please keep in mind that your child may have a
hard time letting go the second time around. It helps to let your child know that you are here for
lunch only and that afterwards you have to go but will return later on. During nap time we would
appreciate you not visiting with your child during the following hours: 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
We find this to be the most trying part of the day and strive to have a calm atmosphere. Of course
we understand if an unavoidable situation arises and try to be flexible under such circumstances.

BRINGING ITEMS:
Each child is welcome to bring anything that makes it easier for the child. Such as security
blankets, a favorite doll, pillow, or stuffed animal. A diaper bag should be packed with anything
that your child may need throughout the day, or if you prefer, we supply bins for your convenience
to use for your childs personal items.
You will be notified on your daily sheet of items that need to be replenished. These are the items
that your child/children need to have here for their use every day (no exceptions will be
made):
1 change of clothes -- this is to include socks, shirts, pants/shorts and underwear, shoes,
and coat (season appropriate) For children that are potty training, and for newborn
infants,
please supply 2 changes of clothes
Diapers/wipes -- Diapers need to be disposable for sanitary purposes

All medications such as -- teething gel, teething tablets, Tylenol, diaper cream, and cold
medicine if needed
All over the counter medication, including Tylenol, teething gel, gas drops, or ointments,
need to have the childs name printed on the outside of each container. This is the parents
responsibility to make sure that all items are labeled so that they arent being shared with
other children for sanitary purposes.
1 Blanket for your child to sleep with during nap time
Sun block and hats for summer
Swim diapers and or swim suits for summer activities
For our toddlers and preschoolers:
Play guns, knives, or anything promoting violence is NOT ALLOWED. These items will be taken
away and given back with a reminder our policy when you pick up your child. Please remember
that we have several age groups in care, anything that could cause a choking hazard needs to
stay home and not come into care with your child. This is a small list of examples:
Marbles ~~ Coins ~~ Gum ~~ Small Legos ~~ Small barrettes that come out easily ~~
ECT.
A good rule of thumb: If it can fit inside a toilet paper roll -- it can choke a small child. If
you are unsure, please use this method to determine the hazard.

CLOTHING:
Children need to come appropriately dressed for the weather and our activities. ( e.g. No sandals
in the winter please.) We try to allow the children to play outside with the weather permitting.
Clothes that are comfortable for play and nap time are ideal. It is recommended that the parents
bring at least 1 change of clothes for their child each day. This includes when the child is a
toddler. We provide bins for your childs extra clothing, over the counter medication, and
necessary items.
Please provide an appropriate jacket/coat for your child so that we can go for walks and or play
outside when the weather permits.

All children six months and older need to come to care dressed for the day. Please refrain from
putting infants six months and older in sleepers for the day. We do provide PJ Days as one of
our activities throughout the year for the kids to have a relaxing day.

DISCIPLINE POLICY:
Our policy is to let a child explore their surroundings freely without allowing them to get hurt or hurt
others. However, as a child grows from infancy into a toddler, and then into preschool, the roles
and boundaries become redefined. We strongly encourage responsibility and accountability for
each ones actions. We will try not to let a child harm themselves, other children, or the centers
equipment. The child will be removed from any given situation and redirected if possible. If the
child cant or is unwilling be redirected, they will be put into time out. Each child is placed into time
out for a length of time that corresponds with their age.
EXAMPLE-- If a child is two-- then two minutes is the time that the child would be in time out. We
then talk about the situation while giving hugs and kisses so that the child still knows that they are
valued and loved. Only their actions are being punished.
If a situation should arise where the child is out of control, the parent will be notified and the
situation explained. It then will be discussed by both parties on how to better deal with the
situation so that the parent and the provider are consistent. If the child has three
uncontrollable spells, the parent will be asked to remove the child from the center
permanently.

GENERAL DISCLOSURE:
The Provider has the option of enforcing or making exceptions on any and all policies at her

discretion. Please remember, if I choose not to enforce a policy for a particular reason, this
DOES NOT mean that the policy isnt in effect anymore. Any and all changes in policies will
be given out in written form.
