The NEA Foundation Global Learning Fellowship offers active NEA members who are teachers 12 months of professional
development opportunities to support educators as they cultivate global competence skills and build global lesson plans that
are shared with educators around the world. The NEA Foundation recognizes that in order for students to prepare for the
global age, the educator must first be equipped with the knowledge, skills and disposition needed to teach in the global age. By
participating in the Global Learning Fellowship program, educators have an opportunity to lead the profession by acquiring
the necessary skills to integrate global competence into their daily classroom instruction, advance pedagogy in their
school/district, prepare students to thrive in the flattened global age, and thus contribute to the closing of the global
achievement gap. TSTA member and National Teacher of the Year, Shanna Peeples, was a 2016 NEA Foundation Global
Learning Fellow.
To apply go to under GRANTS AND AWARDS.

Region 4D House of Delegates
TSTA House of Delegates
NEA Representative Assembly
Nomination Form

Dear NEA-Dallas Member:
It is that time of year again to nominate and elect delegates and alternates to the Region 4D House of Delegates,
the TSTA State House of Delegates and local delegates to the NEA Representative Assembly.
The Region 4D House of Delegates will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the DCS Technology &
Training Center (5151 Samuel Blvd. Dallas, TX 75228). This year’s Regional HoD is an important one. We will
be holding elections for President and Vice President. We will also be considering new business items to present
at the State HoD in April.
The TSTA House of Delegates will be held in Houston, TX at Omni Houston Hotel, April 7-8, 2017. There will
be professional development seminars conducted by TSTA the morning of April 7 th. Delegates may want to start
planning now for travel expenses to the state convention. The TSTA convention hotel is the Omni Houston
Hotel in Houston. Located in the prestigious Uptown Post Oak/Galleria area, the hotel’s nightly room rate for
members in the TSTA convention room block is approximately $99 for a single or a double, plus taxes. NEADallas will provide two nights double occupancy for ONLY our ELECTED delegates.

Please indicate which HoD you would like to be nominated for by placing a check on the line next to
the appropriate HoD. You may nominate yourself for all three.

_____ NEA Representative Assembly
(June 30th-July 5th, Boston, MA)

The NEA Representative Assembly will be held June 30th – July 5th in the wonderful city of Boston, MA. The
NEA RA is the world’s largest democratic decision-making body with upwards of 9,000 delegates in attendance
from all over the United States and the world

It is extremely important that we have our full delegation in attendance for these upcoming events. The future of
our organization will be decided there and each of you will have a vote. If we have delegates that do not attend,
then we, here in Dallas, lose valuable input in that decision-making process.
