Warm-up
Teacher asks students how they give written and spoken warnings in their
language(L1) and what particular words, phrases or grammatical constructions are
used.Then she asks them to suggest/give typical ways of giving warnings in English.

Presentation of the new language
Teacher presents the Grammar Box from the textbook and explains the students
the grammar constructions.

Activity 1
Teacher asks students to rewrite some sentences using conditionals to give
warnings in three ways.

Activity 2
Teacher gives one student a warning about an insignificant action(e.g. If you miss
the bus, you will be late). The student should continue by taking the second half of
teachers warning and create a new warning. The teacher elicits the next warning
and so on.At the end the teacher checks if the students can recall the whole chain
of warnings-starting from that one small initial action.
Aim: to encourage students to give spoken warnings

Activity 3
Teacher splits the students into two groups assigning each student the number 1 or
2. Students designed as ones are given short fragments from the Red Riding
Hood story.Teacher gives the twos short fragments from Star Wars story. The
teacher asks each group to read the fragments and imagine what warnings they
could give the characters(e.g. If you see a wolf, youll run.) When they are ready
the leader of each group will say only their warnings. The other group must guess
what the original story was.
Aim: to encourage students to give their own warnings

Activity 4
Teacher asks students to write 5 warnings for their favourite characters as
homework.
