CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

1.1 OVERVIEW AND MOTIVATION
“REFECTORY UPKEEP” is a system that gives you facility of accessing all the GLA
University related links available at a single place and it also facilitates with booking any kind of
beverages from the canteen. This system is made so that user will not have to come to us to Book
his\her order. The project ‘REFECTORY UPKEEP’ is developed to replace the currently existing
system, which helps in keeping records of the users, details of order as well as payment received.
In the present era where “time” proves to be the most important asset for an individual by
replacing the current register system to fully computerize, it not only saves the precious asset that
is time, but also accuracy, reliability and uniformity can be maintained. This project is useful for
the manager of the canteen and any organization as it helps them to search/order the data faster
than existing system, to get user record easily and report of the user, order, payment, etc. are
generated as per requirement.

Motivation:




To provide best services to the users.
To provide a search platform where a user can find their books available, canteen
information, attendance etc. from anywhere, anytime.
To provide a better way to connect with organization.
Ability to create a personal profile and history of the order booked, books issued.
To provide facility to book order online and do payment from anywhere.

1.2 OBJECTIVE
“Refectory Upkeep” is the Online Organization Information System which gives all the
information of the organization to the user, usually for a limited duration. The objective of the
system is to automate all the activities of the canteen right from purchases to delivery of
food/beverages items. The system should maintain a detailed account of all the provisions bought
and food served at the canteen which leads to increase in reliability, enhance satisfaction, manage
crowd and provide hygienic environment in canteen. This system not only facilitates with
canteen, it also facilitates with library facility, attendance portal, leave/outing facility etc. for an
organization.

The system is going to maintain a calendar for canteen so that administrators can preplan the menus for particular timeslot. It can be used in any organization.
