Col. I: Col. VII-e-4: The Constellations – Magickal images and powers

Key
Constellation Image Nature Power Longitude
Scale
* The boundary lines of the various Signs are carried up to the poles, and any
Constellation that is within the boundary longitudes of a Sign is considered to belong
to that Sign. Thus every Constellation belongs to one or more Signs. (“Sign” is here
used in the sense of the twelve primary Zodiacal Constellations, rather than the tropical
Signs or Solar months.) In general, a Constellation is considered to belong to that Sign
in which its Westernmost (Occidental) boundary falls. E.g., the Constellation Perseus
now falls within 12º ó to 8º ô. The former falls within the longitudinal boundaries of
the Constellation Aries, and therefore “belongs” to that Constellation and the Sign
named for it. However, in the case of Perseus, the Constellation in question falls
almost entirely within the longitudinal boundaries of Taurus, very little of it within
those of Aries, and for this reason Perseus is considered to be associated with the
Constellation Taurus rather than Aries.
